Default Passengers w/ NASA???

I was just wondering if they allow like my family or friends to ride along with me if i have any solo sessions. They would need a helmet i know, but I am curious if that is allowed with NASA.

I assume you're talking about HPDE events, not racing events. I think they will allow it, but only if you are in a very advanced run group.

According to the NASA rules passengers are allowed (pg 25) http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf but I think it depends on the region. Best thing to do is to ask the event director.

In the SE, only instructors can take passengers.

most groups only allow passengers with instructors, but you should ask the specific region as stated.

Generally, here in the SE they don't, but they did make an exception at Lowes in April because attendance was so low. The guy said he got permission before he signed up. Pretty sure they won't do the April event again.

If an instructor takes a person for a ride, who is not a student, that individual must sign a waver and answer three questions which require YES as the correct response. This is what the NASA-SE requires

Some tracks override club rules that allow passengers with experienced drivers and instructor groups and dont permit passengers regardless.
Check with your regional club at a particular event to be sure.

NASA-MA doesn't allow it ride alongs with non instructors either. I *think* GL and MW region are the same, but the last event I did with GL/MW was last year.

It's deceiving because in the National rules and regs it clearly says that passengers are permitted. However, regions can trump that rule.

Great Lakes allows passengers in HPDE3-4 and TT. If you put 4 off while driving with a passenger you're toast.
