Melting Slicks
Sounds like there is going a lot of great scrubs next year!
Looks like we will get an accurate answer on how seconds a lap faster slicks are than R888's as well.

with a spec tire in a small pro series like this, you run what they MAKE, they don't MAKE what you want to run. We were luck to Toyo ( the first several years) to get tires that were the right diameter/height, let alone width or compound. Then there was the year that the BMW's ran a Japanese tread and everyone ran a US tread....didn't make a difference until it rained, and the Japanese tread kicked **** (BMW LAPPED the field, even dominating the AWD Audi).
Pirelli might be more aggressive, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

No official word from Pirelli as what tire it will be. Chances are it will be the same as the Grand Am tire was. GA now using Continental. I won't hold my breath on "great" scrubs. WC has to race on the tires they qualify with. Yes there will be scrubs but we will have to wait and see the quality. Either way I am a fan of Pirelli and have faith it will be a good tire.

Slow
Sorry for being slow (both mentally and on track) - are you saying Hoosier is 2 seconds faster that R888 on a normal track (like 2 minute lap time)? If that is true, I know which tires I will get next time..
PeO. (using R888 currently)

If that's the case, then the tires they've brought must be different than the old GA spec Hoosiers. I was working on DPs when the switch was made from Hoosier to Pirelli. Bolting Pirellis on the car with no other adjustments was worth 3.5 seconds/lap at the long course at Miller. From what I've heard, the initial reactions to the Conti tire are positive, so it must be a different Hoosier carcass/compound.

On a ~2 min/lap track, A6s are worth 3 or more seconds
