Aftermarket Steering Wheel in a C4, Advise Please
I found a couple threads about putting a wheel in C5s and C6s but not so much C4s. Im looking at getting a grant quick release hub for GM spline and a momo wheel adapter from summit. I saw a couple people used the grant hub on C5s, but will it work on a C4 also? I assume the splines are the same but I might need a different spacer or something.
Also, anyone know if I can get the steering wheel off without the airbag going off?

Check out LTB Motorsports. They have everything you need all in 1 place & helpful people as well. Send me an e-mail and I can give fwd you some detailed instructions for the install that I got from someone here several years ago.
For me the hardest decision was how much offset I wanted in a steering wheel. It is hard to get close to the wheel w/o having your knees in the dash.
Good luck.

I looked at LTB but they seem more pricey, and I want to do this for as little as I can. The grant hub seems the best for the money.

Anyone who bought the grant hub know if it will fit the older GM spline as well? I dont think it changed.

Mike just cut off the top end of the shaft and weld on the proper wheel quick-release. Or remove the factory column entirely and put in a collapsable one from a race shop. I used a shaft and quick-release from southwestspeed.com and a Sparco wheel. The shaft is $70, the hub was like $15.
Get into the mindset of "build" rather than "buy" for things like this and you'll save a LOT of money. Aren't you some kinda fancy engineer or somethin' from up there in Buick City?
You can take the wheel off without blowing the bags. They are looking for a crash...
Just don't put your face in front of it just in case.

You are looking at using the momo 2702 that maintains tilt/telescope?
I think you need a QR that bolts to the (6?) bolt pattern of Momo/Grant from that point, no?

So for the 6 bolt-6 bolt this is what I have found:
NRG (ball bearing style)
http://www.getnrg.com/products/interior-products
LTB (splined)
http://ltbautosports.com/ltbquicrelsp.html
TC Racing (dual pin)
http://tcracing.org/p2.html
Works Bell (ball bearing style, I think NRG and others may be knock offs?)
http://www.tunersgroup.com/Online_St...k_Release.html
http://www.tunersgroup.com/Online_St...bolt_type.html
Techniq (TC racing rip off?)
http://www.tekniqauto.com/US/steeringquickrelease.htm
Extreme Performance supposedly makes one similar to the NRG/Bell Works..
Etc etc etc... The question is, what has less play (none) and will remain that way...

Those that ordered an aftermarket wheel, did it come with attaching screws or do you have to buy them separate?

Mike,
I see that you're going with the full race build.
One suggestion for you (if you haven't already bought it). Don't blow money on the things that are "nice" to have until the end.
Spending deciding factors:
1) Required safety items to get on track
2) Other safety items to make you feel comfortable if needed
3) Any item that will make the car/you faster
4) Any item that will make the car/you faster
5) See items 3 & 4
6) Repeat items 3-5
7) Fluff........paint, chrome, fuzzy dice, etc.
** Some quality "Do as i say not as i do advice...."

Good advise! The rules say I cannot have an airbag for PT so instead of having the factory one cut up, I was able to sell it and buy a Sparco Ring for the same amount.
So far I have not put much into the car. I sold a lot of parts off it already, and then my DD took a crap and the wife said I had to fix it with "the race car fund". When it come to buying things though I like function over appearance as well, which is why I have had duct tape holding my fender together for 2 years!
Edit: Oh and hold on to those CCWs you arent using anymore. When I get to 7) on your list Ill be giving you a call.

Pfffft. Don't listen to Matt. The first order of business is a new paint job. Preferably one of those expensive chromatic ones that change color as you move around the car.

I got a bolt on Q-R adapter, I think from racerpartswholesale...or maybe Jegs or Summit (don't recall anymore) and it mounted right up (3-screws) to the aftermarket wheel. Started out with a weld-on but, just couldn't get the welder tip at a good enough angle to make a good weld. I also remember smoke coming out from under the dash when I tried... (yes, I had fuzes pulled, battery removed and alternator disconnected) This is an a 92.
To remove the airbag, pull the fuze, disconnect the connector on the heavy yellow wire under the steering column, then unscrew the mounting screws and pull the airbag off, now disconnect the wires to the ring etc and then set the bag face-up on the bench.
