"Best Safety Upgrade" and other Outrageous Product Claims
Since my post in the vendor thread will probably be deleted (again) due to "rules" regarding interfering with a "for sale" post I'll say it again here.
"Best Safety Updgrade On the Market"
Once again we have forum vendors/sponsors making over the top baseless product claims i.e. "best safety upgrade on the market" and the moderators deleting posts that call them out on it citing the "rules".
I don't think any of us have any objection to vendors and sponsors selling their products, but claiming to be the "best safety upgrade" is highly objectionable. Just like a certain other sponsor claiming their product is better based on a bogus magazine article with no objective comparitive data. Moderators should note that this post in no way questions the quality or price of the product, only the erroneous claims made by the manufacturer.
How about some rules for vendors & sponsors which require their product claims to be remotely based on actual fact? Kind of like a dyno sheet to go with HP claims.
I know I'm bucking the system and probably the only one who feels this way so let the flames begin.

I agree 100%. All claims of performance should be backed up by factual data, IE: dyno sheets, etc. The sponsoring vendors make the forum possible and most of them supply quality products with great customer service. Let's keep the product claims factual, it will be better for everyone.

The vendors should be able to give us the facts. Weights, conditions, car type, specifications etc.
We should be able to apply the facts to our specific situation and come to the same conclusion if it is truely the best solution.
The facts should speak for themselves if it is truely a better product.

I see what you mean but I'm not bothered at all by it. We can spot BS. With such an outlandish title/claim, I make the judgment it's probably BS before even reading it and may not in fact bother to inquire.
We have to spot BS to be at all successful. After all, today is election day

Best Safety Upgrade - No Bull
The best safety upgrade is:
THE 'UPGRADED' DRIVER WITH IMPROVED DRIVING SKILLS AND REACTION TIMES
How can anyone believe baseless claims about lug nuts? That's just like believing the HP improvement claims for countless cheap bolt-ons.

I agree whole heartedly, if we aren't careful this forum will end up like a health magazine....with every article being written just to sell a product!!
There are many different types of people on here with varying degrees of experience. If someone who knew nothing about cars logged on looking for sound advice before their first track day, saw claims saying you must have this item to be safe on the track, they may end up blowing a bunch of money for nothing!
I don't want to get into the middle of a controversy.....just sayin......

Many people use this site thinking it is an open collection of opinions from other forum users. This is becoming more and more of an infomercial from a select group of advertisers. It's hard for people new to racing to sort through the BS.

I'm just glad their aren't more vendors in this particular part of the forum in general....the C6Z forum is full of crap, every other thread is a "man switch", or a "SS screw kit", or some other worthless item. MOST of the vendors we see actually participate in the conversation, as well as make a living here!

Imagine calling Road and Track magazine to complain about an issue you had with a vendor who advertises in their magazine.
As a marketing company, they do have rules designed to protect the interests of their advertisers, and quite simply, if you don't like the rules and refuse to follow them, they are quick to show you the door.

The name of the company is Internet Brands, and it is a business, not your community watering hole.
