FS 68 Corvette road race / street car
Due to family health issues, I have reluctantly decided to offer my beautiful 68 Corvette road race tribute / street car for sale. Many of you may remember this car as it was built by Stan (Forum name roadracevette) at http://www.2ndgenrestorations.com/ . It started life as a 68 Lemans blue Corvette convertible, 327-350 engine and Stan and his crew turned it into the beauty seen below. I purchased the car in 2007 from Stan, minus engine and headers. In 2008, I found the perfect engine for the car...........................one of the GM crate Limited Edition Ram Jet ZL-1 engines, serial number 155 of only 200 built. I installed the engine with an Edlebrock Air Gap intake with 750 Holley DP carb (Ram Jet EFI, valve covers and original manuals, wiring, etc are included with car). We fabricated a set of the "original type factory designed and Bill Thomas-built" headers.....constructed of 304 stainless steel and all tig welded. These are a "one of a kind" set of headers with stainless steel Turbo Spiral baffles. The engine has approximately 300 street miles on it. Trans is a M-20 Muncie 4 speed with 4.11 rear gears.
Many of you saw the car at Corvettes @ Carlisle this past August, so you who saw it are aware of just how nice the car really is. Stan also documented the build of his other cars here on The Corvette Forum, so you are well aware of the high quailty of his work. Stan and his guys did a fantastic job of preparing the car, fit and finish is well beyond what most Corvette restorations are. I do have a CD documenting the car's restoration and construction. Car was featured in a 2007 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines and was selected as "Celebrity Choice" at the 2007 Corvettes @ Carlisle. It will also be featured on one of the upcoming Corvette Calendars.
The car is a STREET car and is fully legal and licensed, lights, signals, etc, yet it appears as an all out race car right out of the SCCA days in the late 60's - early 70's when the L-88's ruled the A-Production class. This car has some suspension refinements and the 6 point roll bar is welded to the frame. RJS race quality racing seat belts and racing seats are used in the car. Car also has a FUELSAFE fuel cell, PSE reproduction 15X8 Minilite wheels with repro Goodyear PolyGlass GT tires, Be Cool HD radiator with dual electric fans.
Again, after much consideration and deliberation, due to family health issues, I have decided to offer the car for your consideration. I have approximately $65,000 invested in the car as it sits and can safely say that it would be very difficult, and time consuming, to reproduce the car for this price. If you have interest, I will entertain all "serious and reasonable" offers. Please be serious and please be reasonable.
Car is realistically priced at $60K or reasonable offer.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or need additional information.
Thanks in advance for your consideration.
Rex

Super nice !!! It looks like the many cars I saw at Sebring and Daytona in my younger years. I always fantasized about having a "factory" L-88 FIA race car............looks like you did it !!! The actual cars raced into the 80's in many enduros.
I'm sure you have heartache about letting this go.

ZL-1 engine sold. Car is still for sale, minus engine and headers. Everything else included. All you need is an engine and headers. $48,000 or best reasonable offer. You can't build this car for $48K
