Corvette has entered a single car for the WEC 1000 at Sebring. Will be the #3 drivers (including Rockenfeller) who will have a lot going on that week pulling double duty in both events, as will the crew maintaining a 3rd car. Should be a fun weekend for the rest of us who get to watch...

I think the difference maker in the #3 is Antonio though... Jan's good, but not a huge difference to Gavin and Milner in my opinion. Also, I think Fassler is better than Rockenfeller also, so to me the teams are mostly even.

Agreed, he is one of the best in the sport.
In terms of sheer pace, that's pretty accurate.
The REAL difference is JM isn't likely to make dumb mistakes like the other 2.
Again I agree.
The reason why the 2 crews are made up the way they are is based on body size, not skill.

I think we are agreeing to agree here.
If I had to put money on a specific Corvette to do the best in a race, I'm with you and would always go with the #3..
<although Antonio hitting the wall at PLM last year gave me a dang heart attack>

How did everyone like NBCsports Coverage? I liked it because it didn't switch channels like fox sports.

I also missed the green and yellow flags in the onscreen "scoreboard" that Fox had. I FF through the cautions and it was hard to tell when it went green. You knew instantly when they went green on Fox's setup.

My problem with switching channels was that Fox 2 was in SD with my provider. Agreed with the flags. I though it was a bit morbid playing Alex Zanardi's accident multiple times.

First "wave" of the Le Mans entry list is out. Only the full season WEC teams are on it for GTLM, so Corvettes are not yet on the list , but I'm sure they will be on the next list, with the additional Fords and Porsches as well.
The interesting note is that Ben Keating's team with their automatic invite has a customer Ford GT in GTE-AM. First one we've seen. I'm not sure if Ford would allow a customer to run GTE-Pro/GTLM now (like Corvette wouldn't with Larbre) and I still don't see non-factory cars in IMSA/GTLM any time soon (why run against the factory teams when you can spend less money and go to GTD here in the US). That said, getting cars to customers leaves a glimmer of hope we can see them if/when Ford leaves.

CORVETTE RACING AT SEBRING: Doing the Double
Press Release:
CORVETTE RACING AT SEBRING: Doing the Double
Garcia, Magnussen and Rockenfeller to contest IMSA, WEC enduros
DETROIT (Feb. 26, 2019) – Corvette Racing confirmed today its participation
in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s 1,000-mile race at Sebring
International Raceway, one day prior to the 67th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of
Sebring.
Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller will contest both
endurance rounds during the “Super Sebring” weekend that will see the FIA
WEC and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship compete on the same weekend.
For the WEC round on Friday, March 15, the Garcia/Magnussen/Rockenfeller
trio will pilot the No. 64 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R.
In addition, Corvette Racing also will enter two Corvettes in the Sebring 12
Hours, which is the second round of this year’s IMSA championship.
This will be the third event for Corvette Racing in the FIA WEC’s 2018-19
“Super Season”, joining last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Six Hours of
Shanghai where Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner teamed in a Redline-themed
Corvette.
The Sebring WEC race gives the Corvette Racing program another opportunity
to extend its run of success at Sebring. The team has raced at Sebring every
year since 1999 when Corvette Racing made its competitive debut. The tally
since then is more than impressive: 11 class victories – including three
straight from 2015-17 – and more than 43,000 racing miles completed.
Garcia, Magnussen and Rockenfeller have combined for nine Sebring victories
between them and were victorious together in the 2017 race.
The FIA WEC’s 1,000 Miles of Sebring is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET on Friday,
March 15. The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring for the IMSA WeatherTech
SportsCar Championship is set for 10:40 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 16.
ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 and NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R:
“Sebring is one of the premier events we do at Corvette Racing each year.
This year’s event will be the biggest challenge yet. The track is special
for us as a team with the history and race wins we have achieved over the
years with our Corvettes. We have many miles of testing and competition to
draw from for both the IMSA and WEC events. It will be tough on all of us,
but that is why we come to Sebring.”
JAN MAGNUSSEN, NO. 3 and NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C7.R: “I’ve
never driven in two races like this on the same weekend. So it’s something I’m
looking forward to. Everyone at Chevrolet and Corvette Racing enjoys coming
to Sebring and testing ourselves against the best in the sport. We have two
chances to do that now! The preparation level has been high as we’ve had to
train and ready ourselves more than ever. We have a solid lineup, a great
team behind us and obviously a very solid and very strong Corvette that we
know very well. I think all three of us drivers will be extra sore come
Sunday after the race but that’s the allure of Sebring. You get to push and
punish yourself like no other time during the year.”
MIKE ROCKENFELLER, NO. 3 and NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE
C7.R: “Sebring is always one of the toughest races of the season. It is a
great and historic event, but you always take a beating during the race. Now
we will take twice the beating! In all seriousness I’m really looking
forward to being part of these two races in the Corvette. It gives me more
time in the car, which is never a bad thing. That is what you want to do as
a racing driver. We also have a lot of data and success to put into our
preparations. This will be a big effort but there isn’t a team better to be
with for this ‘double’ than Corvette Racing.”

Sebring BoP adjustments up:
https://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/i...s-sebring-bop/
https://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/i...s-sebring-bop/
BMW - Slight boost decrease
Corvette - No Change
Ferrari - 10 kg Lighter and more boost (don't know that it matters, not sure if/when they are running again)
Ford - 10 kg heavier and and more boost.
Porsche - 10 kg Lighter!
Porsche was given a lot of extra power for PLM last year with a somewhat matching weight increase. My guess is to keep their speed up (or increase) but to slow them down under braking/corners. Now that most of that weight was dialed back, its hard to imagine Porsche not being pretty fast. They won PLM, had lap times that were very competitive, and now have been given a weight break, so I suspect they are in a good situation.
