Formula One - Canada Schedule on NBC and NBC Sports Net and CNBC

THE LIVE SHOWING OF THE RACE IS ON NBC !!!

IT IS NOT ON NBC SPORTS NET!!!

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

1. THE TIMES FOR THIS RACE ARE DIFFERENT, SO PAY ATTENTION!

2. THERE ARE TWO SHOWINGS OF THE RACE THIS SUNDAY.

3. THERE IS ONE SHOWING OF THE RACE ON MONDAY.

4. THERE ARE TWO SHOWINGS OF QUALIFYING.

5. THE *LIVE* QUALIFYING SHOW IS ON ** CNBC **[

5. THERE IS ONE SHOWING OF PRACTICE 2.

6. THERE ARE NO PRE-RACE SHOWS THAT I CAN SEE !!!!!!

7. THE SUNDAY *LIVE* COVERAGE OF THE RACE IS ON ** NBC **
POST-RACE: The post-race show "F1 Extra" is normally shown
immediately after the race show whatever time that may be. NBC(SN) schedules
"F1 Extra" to start 2 hours after the start of the race but, in reality, it's always
shown immediately after the race regardless of the clock. The simplest way to make
sure you record "F1 Extra" is simply to add enough extra time to the race broadcast
recording to cover (a) any extra time that was needed to run the entire race
including any delays, and (b) "F1 Extra". My standard routine is to add
at least three hours (!) just to make sure I cover most eventualities.

THAT SAID...

POST-RACE COVERAGE MAY NOT HAPPEN IF THE RACE RUNS UP AGAINST
THE 2 HOUR TIME SLOT THAT NBC HAS GIVEN FOR THE RACE.
IF THE RACE RUNS LONG THEN IT'S A GIVEN THAT THERE WILL BE *NO*
POST-RACE COVERAGE ON NBC. IN THAT CASE, IF YOU WANT TO SEE THE PODIUM
CEREMONIES AND INTERVIEWS YOU WOULD HAVE TO WATCH THE RESHOWING
OF THE RACE LATER SUNDAY EVENING ON NBCSN TO CATCH THE POST-RACE
INTERVIEWS AND "F1 EXTRA".

I pull this info from from my Tivo's schedule. I have no guarantee
that it is correct but it usually is. I also double check it with the NBC Sports
NET schedule.
NOTE: THIS IS SHOWING ON NBC. THEY DO NOT GIVE A RAT'S BUTT FOR
AUTO RACING FRILLS LIKE PODIUM CEREMONIES, POST-RACE PRESS
CONFERENCES, HAPPY VIEWERS, ETC. REMEMBER, NBC IS OWNED BY
COMCAST. ENOUGH SAID.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND RECORDING THE NBCSN RESHOWING OF THE RACE
AT 5 PM PDT (8 PM EDT) AS A SAFETY MEASURE
to ensure that you see everything
possible. They have scheduled the standard 2 1/2 hour time slot for this. The ONLY
guaranteed post-race show is on the NBCSN reshowing at 5 PM (8 Eastern.)

Gonna miss this one, Z. Wife and I are heading out tomorrow in our new (to us) '14 C7 on a 3,000 mile road trip from Hot Springs to Kitty Hawk, NC.

I'll check in when I can, but watching the qualifying and race isn't happening.

Y'all have a good one,
Mike

ENJOY!!! Kitty Hawk is cool. That whole outer banks thing is cool. My wife and I used to run down there as often as we could when we were living outside Philly (back some 25 years now.) We loved staying in/around Chincoteague.

Romain Grosjean has labelled the narrow four degrees Centigrade operating window he has experienced with Pirelli's 2017 Formula 1 tyres as "ridiculous".

Tire issues in F1 are not always the fault of manufacturers.
IMO, the teams (and F1) are constantly wanting the performance specs changed.
The problem is sometimes this creates a rock and a hard place situation for tire suppliers (see the Indy/Michelin fiasco).
Pirelli has taken some unfair heat (excuse the pun) over the years for their tires because of these ludicrous demands placed on them.

BTW, speaking of tires...
We all know with the aero characteristics of today's cars following a car too closely can chew up fronts.
Why not design a front tire that is nearly indestructible?
IOW, cars can more easily follow each other closely enough to execute a pass.
Seems like a no brainer to me.

Because then you wouldn't have enough grip to stay close enough to the car in front on corner exit to pass them on the straight.

I'll second that... since everybody runs on the same spec tires anyway, why not make them hard enough to minimize the 'marbles' roll off too? When everyone is afraid to go off line, makes it a little hard to pass...
I think they went the wrong way with the aero. If they reduced it, maybe a closely following car wouldn't suffer as much.

I'm thinking not.
With the same tire spec across the grid, the tire grip performance for each car would be the same.
The differences between the front & rear tires would be great.
The fronts would have high grip, while the rears could be deliberately designed to have lower grip.
There may be times during a race when only the rears need to be replaced, and there may be races where teams choose to use one set of fronts for the entire race.
Let's be honest here: fans don't get excited by pit stops...they get excited by on-track PASSING.
They get excited by close-quarter battles, not cars being forced to stay 20 yards behind another to protect tires.

I did the "Tail" in my MR2 Turbo on a drive from Philly to SoCal one year (wnet that way on purpose ) It was the perfect car for such a "mad mouse" roadway. I'm thinking the Z06 would be a bit of a handful for a lot of that road. Fun, for sure, but not optimal.

Have fun!!! Be safe!!!

Haas team boss Gunther Steiner thinks it ridiculous that Carlos Sainz has blamed the lack of visibility from his mirrors for the crash with Romain Grosjean at the Canadian Grand Prix.

In spite of the rumors, Sainz isn't ready for the Scuderia IMO.
Without question he is very fast.
However, it doesn't appear he is mature enough yet.
I can't see Ferrari taking him next year when there are more experienced guys available.

Alonso?
I doubt McLaren will be winning by September...
I'd like to see Bottas replace Kimi, then have Alonso team up with LH. I know how well they get on...

FA and LH reunited?
What a season 2018 will be to remember.
