Default Sparco EVO2 seats - grey market?

OK guys, this may be a really dumb question, but it sure has me scratching my head. I've noticed a couple of vendors on eBay selling the Sparco EVO seats for about $320.00/pair. Yep, $320.00 for a pair! The ad says that these are "grey market" seats and are the overseas version.
Do any of you have any idea about what the heck these seats are all about?

Look up Wikipedia for counterfit/knock off/fake.

It's a multi million dollar business

ok Bill, I have a great idea, buy em and let me know! I need a seat, a pair would be nice but one would do.
you going to try out our auto cross this weekend? It's a fast one and we have huge lit up sign showing how well you did or didn't do as exit track. Houston Police Acadamy track, no cones!

Hey Chucky! The seats are very tempting, but I'm not sure about going in that direction. Makes you wonder how they can sell them so cheap -like what don't they have as compared to the real ones. Is it going to break the first time you sit in it?
I may show up as a spectator at the event this weekend. My shoulder isn't quite ready yet for me to start driving. It's still pretty tight after my surgery. My first event will probably be the NASA event at TWS on 4/30 & 5/1.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.....Do they carry the FIA rating like the REAL ones ?? Bet not. If there are images of the seats, real Sparcos have an FIA dated sticker on the lower left rear of the seat on the side.

I sent an inquiry to the seller. He said they are not FIA rated. You're right - to good to be true - darn it.

There are a lot of seats the are run in HPDE's that are not FIA rated. I have a buddy that bought them and he says they look great. I'm going to take a look at them next week. JD

We deal with quite a few counterfit parts in the electronics industry ... Most have Fake UL / NEBS and other safety and qualification labels . Often these work well but just are not to spec and when they fail our returns process catches them. Point is this seat could have all the labels / stamps saying it is FIA but not actually passed any testing. Or it could be the real thing at a great price :-)
