g-force/acceleration sensor
is there a stand alone device out there, that puts out 0-5v for one or two axis and maybe +/- 2g?
when i look up that stuff, the only thing i could afford is the suction cup.

thanks, good idea, but has that been tried out? there is always the question of damping versus logging rate (10 hz here) etc. its an $200+ item after all. i wonder if gm 15906579 is the same and above is discontinued?
i have a couple of sensors i purchased i while ago (one is 3-axis for around $20, i believe), but never found the time to mess with them.

I used one on my car. The LatG data matched the data from the accelerator on the data logger. You may be able to check the calibration by pointing the desired axis towards the sky (1 g) and horizontally (0 g's).
I didn't use the yaw output in the traditional sense. I oriented the sensor differently in the hopes that the yaw sensor would help me measure roll angle. That didn't work very well. But the yaw sensor was responsive when I held it horizontally and rotated it in the yaw direction.
Yes, some data filtering or smoothing should be done as the raw data can be noisy. How much is also influenced by the mounting method.
I found the parts much cheaper on ebay. The one I bought may have been used.
