The promoter letter I got states they will be black flagging those of us who get in the dirt.

Something to discuss as I know a few folks who's "line" is in the dirt.

Randy won the next to last World Challenge race at VIR. Andy Pilgrim won the last. Andy is a GREAT guy and fun to ride with. He will be at the NCM event.

Bill did you not get a copy?

all clubs that rent VIR should have received a copy.

ie Stay the HECK OFF the KERBS

ie "the VIR Flagging and Communications Dept, WILL BLACK FLAG any participant that intentionally drive over the kerbing with 2 wheels or more. There WILL be a 3-strike rule for the Offender.

At he 3rd strike, the driver will be excused from the event with no refund or credit. We ask that all the track renters help us enforce this policy so we can help our customer avoid unnecessary damage to their cars."

any time the Renting CLUB / Organization is invoiced for something a participate does that that payment will be passed on ir charged the offender.

To clarify my post; All good except "Don't drive the Kerbing for HPDE"...i.e. NCM VIR. Modify Probst's T1 line, stay off concrete.

Good catch, guys.

Actually, the forecast appears to be calling for a little bit of moisture so Kerbing may not be too much of a factor anyway. May be more of a conservative HPDE event. Rain tires for back up.

Lets keep our fingers crossed on the weather.
10 forecast is a waste anyway, it always changes.

Fingers crossed and rain tires loaded. Plan B sometimes guarantees Plan A.

Tom,
My interpretation of that letter was to use the kerbing but not drop two or more tires off into the dirt.

I was at the TrackDaze event that preceded that letter. It looked to me like VIR had just filled in the edges of the track before this event; the dirt look fresh. In our intermediate class room session, the instructor was discussing the "racing" line and straight-lining the esses and cutting across T16 as the fastest line..... Next time out, all the racer wanta-bes were dropping two wheels at each kerbing. The result was dirt and rocks on the track and more work filling in the track edges again. The day two driver's meeting addressed this by the officials plainly telling people to keep all four tires on the track. The class room instructor was a little embarrassed.

Cheers,
Jim

Yah I think it is and this stay off the DIRT, there are many ppl going OVER the KERB and using the dirt.

lower esses, and going into T16

I let Billy Mitchel ( control ) do what he and his crew believe to be the safest for the event.

This guys are great. They know the difference between four off and driving off to safe your arz and car.

they will be watching the 2 off for ppl cutting the kerbs early or late

http://vimeo.com/20208440

1:59.82 and he never cracked the 150 mph on the back straight

Notice with all these videos how similar the lines are ?

Remember, some of these cars have aero to help the speeds. Do not attempt going into the esses in the high 120MPH's without aero. It won't work. Ask me how I know. Also, resist the temptation to try a little later apex into 7 in order to set up the hump. If you do, the initial angle of incidence at turn in will break the rear loose and you won't be able to catch it. Stick to your comfortable turn in points and don't try to keep up with an aero car if you are stock.

Bill Wally was with a STOCK LS6 so 380-385 hp.
But FRESH As and great down force and almost unbelievable driving skill. He did not get there over night or just a few events on track.

No doubt he is very skilled. I met him at Mid Ohio this year just before he lost his engine
