Z51 Drilled Rotors on the track?
Please let me know your experience with C6 and OEM drilled Z51 rotors on the track school/lapping days.
I plan to use the car on a two day event, probably a total of no more than ten - 30 minute sessions.
I plan to use Carbotech XP10 &XP8 for pads.
Will they crack? Or should I buy solid rotors for the event?

They have been on the car since new, about 24,000mi but never tracked, they look pretty much perfect at this time on stock pads. I'll change the pads to Carbotech for the track.

If you
If you plan to do more track events, save your drilled rotors and use for street. Instead replace with DBA4000 from Tirerack @ $160 on the front axle. That way you have your nice looking rotors saved and good rotors for track.
You can run the standard Z51 rotors on track from a performance problem without problem. But the cracks will come already from first track event. Rear, I have done 20 events with my standard rotors.
PeO.

I was throwing away perfectly good rotors until I saw the ones Chris was running! I'm not even sure you can crack one. They are 1 mm thicker on the piston side as well.
You can not buy a better rotor than the OEM for the car at any price but you can certainly spend a lot more money trying..

I got a drilled set for free awhile back and left them on for track use. I figured why not use them up. This set started fine and got worse. Drove home from the track and it thumped pretty bad. It made a small gouge in the pad. If you don't care about the rotors, use them up! They should last but bring spares too. Pix:

The rotors will be fine. They may get some heat checks after the school but that will be it. If you are a novice like the car is I wouldn't do anything except change the brake fluid to a good high dry temp brand and make sure the stock pads are in good shape. If they need replacing put stock or stock equivalent ones back on. You will not be pushing the car hard enough to make good use of the expensive but high wear race pads. An intermediate level driver should be able to get at least two days of hard use out of a set of new stock pads and a novice will get much more.

I don't think they are from a C6 either Maybe they are off of a Porsche ...
You can save yourself some more $$ by using PFC "Z" rated pads too. When you can out drive them and those nasty OEM rotors you will be ready to go to the Nationals! Carbotech is good but much too $$$$ for now.

I got them from a guy with a C5 and they were in GM boxes. I hated PFZ/ZO6/HPS pads on the track. My first event I overheated them in three laps.

We all consider brakes & tires as the two most important aspects of driving on the track.
My son runs Carbotech XP10 & XP8 on his C5 Z06 and they are wonderful, he'll probably move up to XP12 & XP10.
I'm not in his league so I'll stick to XP10 & 8 and my half worn stock GY tires for now on the C6.
We attended Spring Mountain a couple of years ago and they ran stock tires and rotors with a Hawk pad (not sure which one) on all their cars.

OP: I have these and like them a lot, though I have not tracked them yet. Also they are very lite. http://shop.performanceafx.com/C6-Z51-Corvette_c15.htm
