If the tires are non DOT they won't have a date code.

Hi Steve,

Hoping to help here. Other than size, three factors are critical in evaluating the worth of used (and NEW) track tires: number of heat cycles, the depth of those "4 notches", and the actual age of the tires.

Four heat cycles is quite light use for these tires. Also, you mentioned the "tread depth" is still good.

Now, because racing compounds harden MUCH more quickly than street tires, the guys are hoping for a "molding date". If they were manufactured one year ago, they will have LOTS more life left than if they were made five years ago.

If you, or a friend have a durometer, post up the readings, along with the compound number (35, or 45, or 60, etc.), and we can take an educated guess at their ages.
