Default SKF Wheel bearings for 2009+ C6 Z06?

It is my understanding that the SKF bearings don't fit on 2009+ Z06. What are ya'll doing for a better bearing for them?

And happy Independence Day weekend!

Not sure about the Z06? but I think that the ZR1 wheel bearing are SKFs and there is no need to upgrade them. Also 2009 and after have different speed sensors and I'm not sure SKF has a replacement yet? So if the Zs are not the same? you could upgrade them with the ZR1s. I'm sure some one knows the correct answer. JD

Default SKF or Better for 2009+ Z06

I'm curious too. I heard SKF was going to have something out later this year...BUT....what other options are out there?

Surely there are forum members that have done something in this regard.

Hopefully someone with good experience will reply.

Thanks.

Here's the situation. As mentioned, the ABS wheel speed sensor changed in 2009. Therefore, the SKF bearings don't fit 2009 and later cars. The ZR1 bearings are SKF heavy duty hub bearings. I replaced my front bearings with ZR1 units. However, for the rear, the 2009 Z06 and ZR1 had different half shaft splines. The number of splines was different between the ZR1 and Z06. That means the ZR1 hub bearing will not fit a 2009 Z06. The only way to make them work is to also replace the half shafts with ZR1 units.

I have heard rumors that GM made a running change at some point and now the ZR1 and Z06 have the same spline count for the half shafts, but I don't know if that is correct and if so, what model year it occurred. I will be with a group of GM people at Katech Track Attack on July 30-31, so I'll see what I can find out and post it back here.

If anyone else knows the answer, please post it up.

Zo6 and zr1 have all had the same big splines. My early production 09 base Z06 had the same non skf hub as the
Previous year, but had the new active sensor, and larger zr1 spline.

If you want an skf, and you have an 09 or newer car, your only option is a factory zr1 hub. Same hub we sell for the early model cars, just a larger spline and an active sensor.
