Default ?? Purchasing a purpose built race car ......

Is a bill of sale all that is required, expected when purchasing a purpose built tube frame car? I am assuming they have no VIN, title or registration. Thanks1

Yep, just a bill of sale. Sometimes the builder will have a chassis number and you can also use the log book number as a reference for the bill of sale as well.

Correct,,, bill of sale and possession of the race car is how it has always been. But, in big value race cars, you best check the industry for any insider stories,,, stolen,, renumbered,,,,clone.
Usually, if a race car is still being raced, most people that are around it will know some of its history,, Ask !
Its called Due diligence !
I have bought, owned, built, repo'ed, many race cars over the last 40 years,,, so far nobody has challenged my ownership or title to any of those cars. But, on some of them, I did not know the history of previous ownership. KINDA like the Wild West,, buyer beware

Thanks but no final decision made yet. I'm just trying to understand some of the details.

More importantly thanks for all your help answering my questions! You have been very generous with your time and knowledge.

Of course I meant that it won't be fast enough to match your excellent driving skills

That's what concerns me. I'm not sure Len, aka Rickety Rocket, can handle all that power. Maybe if I find the time at one of the events, I will show him what the car can do.

Hope you get it Len

I know this car well. Nascar driver Scott Lagasse Jr drove this car in the the ASA DELCO touring series then converted it to road racing and won and broke the Daytona SCCA GTA class track record with it.

Lagasse Jr was a race winning driver in ASA and ARCA and ran as high as 8th in Nationwide points last year.

Some may remember his dad, Scott Lagasse, a race winning driver in Trans Am, ARCA, and Camel GT, and Nascar truck competitor.

Scott Lagasse Sr. (center) racing at Sebring, with the Mosler Automotive team, in the early 1990's.

Lagasse's are a real class family. Thanks for you help locating a car and with all the questions. I am looking forward to getting it on the track and learning how to drive it.
