Default [Pictures] Scrubbed a few layers of rubber off the tires at Heartland Park...

...last weekend.

Couple more and I get my SCCA license...

Tech Inspection...

The current D1 Champ showing me the best lines to follow.

OK, my turn!

Wave at the camera at speed!

Passing the slow guys on the straight

Juuuust a bit too hot through the chicane!

At least I landed going the correct direction!

OK, much better job on the chicane, well, at least I was able to stay on the track

Time to cool down the cars and the drivers. It was 100° that day.

I know, I usually pull the fuse when I autocross.

Passing the slow guys on the straight

Couple things:

1) Wasn't this the first hot lap of the first session when most of us were running single-file getting our engine and tires warmed up?

2) Didn't I (the "slow guy" next to you in the picture) pass you in the second or third session? (Everything was warmed up at that time)?

3) I didn't see a lap time listed for #9 in the results sheet.

I was in the red 2000 FRC with chrome wheels. I had a good time at the HDPE. I also put it in the grass a couple times. Once in turn 4 and once right after alpha.

69427 - Not sure if you got an email from Superior Chevy but they have a lot of information on their facebook page with photos. If you PM me an email address I will sent you a copy of the email they sent me. I did not see results in round 1. In round 2 you ran fastest lap of 2:10.896. I could not find a time for you for round 3.

It was a really great time and Superior Chevy was a really great host.

Hey Mark,

Good to hear from you. You're right, the Superior Chevrolet guys were great.
I didn't get any times from round one (my carb injested something early on and leaned out big time, so I limped back to the pits and swapped out the carb) or times from round two. I missed the first part of the second session finishing up the carb swap but was there the complete third session. I was under two minutes in the third session (so I guess I was trending in the right direction), but I definitely need more seat time there (it was my first time at HPT). I was very uncomfortable with turn 1, and found myself braking too early (on the hill). It's a great track, and I'm looking forward to going there again.
I'll PM my e-mail address.

Thanks, and hope to see you there again.
Mike

Edit: Mark, I looked at Superior's FB page as you suggested (Thank you) and I see the results from the second session. The 2:10 time was for "Mr. Passing the slow cars". I was in the group of slow cars at 2:02 that session. If I read things correctly, you did quite well. As I mentioned above, I look forward to visiting with you again at the track.

1) Easy there fellow, warmed or not, you were going slower so I passed. No big deal, never claimed to be the fastest car on the track. Far from it actually. It was close to 100° that day, didnt take any time to warm things up.

2) Nope, was only passed by the Mini. But if it makes you feel better, we will say you blew my doors off.

3) Did not run the 3rd.

If you have a facebook account, look up Superior Chevrolet, they have tons of pictures out there from the event.

I really like that track but haven't spent enough time on it to feel good about how I'm going over the crest on the straight. I need to walk it or bike it next time before running.

Mike,

I thought you indicated you were #9 so that was the time I gave you. I got a second email from Superior with the following information on run 3.

A Street Prepared (ASP)
#55 Edward Z Ferrari 1:34.209** (This was a full T1 race car practicing)

Super Stock (SS)
#8 Mark M Z06 C5 Corvette 1:54.316*
#4 Jeff H C6 Corvette 1:59.184
#14 William H Z06 C5 Corvette 1:59.582

B Stock (BS)
#21 Jed E Honda S2000 1:57.100
#18 John N Honda S2000CR 1:57.445
#7 Steve O C4 Corvette ZR1 2:11.063

D Stock (DS)
#22 Mark J Mini Cooper S 2:00.043

H Stock (HS)
#19 Walter D Golf GTI 2:10.806
#2 Brittney W Honda Civic 2.16.966

Vintage Vette
#11 Mike W C3 Corvette 1:59.721
#12 Terry C 1957 Corvette 2:16.700
#6 Kim W 1960 Corvette 2:34.308

*Top Time - Club Trials
** Top Time - Session

Looks like you improved slightly from run 2 to 3. I did OK for putting it in the weeds a couple times. That was the first time out in the car. Is shows the car as a Z06 and SS class but it is really a 2000 FRC that is an ASP car. I slowed a little from 2 to 3. I was downshifting early to avoid the ooops I had after alpha.

I've heard alpha referenced a couple times. Where or what is it?

Alpha is the hill right after the flagstand.

Thanks
