Default C6 on a diet?

Folks,

I'm considering a Z06 as 85% use track day car. Wondering if there have been any threads on Z06 weight loss programs? What weighs what, how much can you lose, and still maintain some civility driving it to a track? I would probably end up trailering it sooner than later, but would plan to drive it to the track for the first year or two. My tentative plan would be harnesses and seats that don't suck, brakes, suspension, and weight loss and possible aero if it makes sense. Thanks.

There should be a number of threads about it, I think there is even a complete list of most of the items you can take out of the car in the C6Z section.

FYI...a full carbon body race car WITH the cage in it can get down to about 2680-2700 lbs no fuel or driver. But that takes a lot of work to get it down to that.

Some easy items to remove that weight quite a bit:
  • factory seats (2 race seats will be significantly lighter)
  • cat back exhaust is VERY heavy, get rid of it. If you need mufflers, go with a bullet system, it is much lighter than the factory cat back
  • catalytic converters
  • brail battery
  • stock run flat tires
  • carpets
  • AC

If you haven't bought the car yet, I seriously reconsider a C5Z.

Adding Lightness is very EXPENSIVE.

with most of the above plus two-piece rotors all around. Not so sure about the carpet and A/C.

Do you have a state inspection? That will affect your decisions.
