[B]First event at the new race track in the Pacific Northwest - VIDEO![B]
From napkin to asphalt in less than one year. First event with regular HPDE attributes include corner workers standing in the back of pickups. Fast, flowing design with lots of places to attempt passing during racing. Elevation changes and 16 corners in 2.5 miles. Located 1-1/2 hours from the house.
Video was shot from my new DD, a Mazda Speed3. Slow pace compared to the Z, which should be repaired (motor) when events start happening in March.
OK, don't laugh!
Early laps, track was wet, everyone driving the line for the first time:

Later in the day, not so lost and a dry line developing:

Can't wait to get out there with the Z in the spring!

Wish that had been there about four years ago. Looks great. Where did they end up building it?

Wish that I was not 2500 miles away, would love to drive that track ! The downhill esses coming into the main straight look absolutely fantastic. Great video. Thanks for posting.

This is going to be a fantastic facility for track junkies, drag racers, and even room for autocross as things progress.
And it's only a 40 minute ride from my house

I'm very excited to have this track. Pacific Raceway is great, but it's a huge bonus to have a new one that is as nice as this one and close to Seattle.
Hey Dean, any word on the next track event. My race car is biting at the bit to hit this track up.

Why did you decide on the Speed 3 as a daily driver?
Only reason I ask is because a while back I needed a daily driver that was fast and fun, with the emphasis on fast. I ended up with a Cobalt SS after reading all the tests and seeing how the Cobalt stomped all the other cars in the sport compact class. I know the Speed 3 was the next closest in performance so I was wondering what is was that tipped the scales for you in the decision process?

I wanted to be able to get my bicycle inside so needed a hatchback.
Been working 6+ days per week all year. I occasionally come up for air.
Ya, I can't wait to pilot the Vette through there once it warms up. It's going to take real fast hands! Very similar design to the "Corkscrew" at Laguna Seca. Help the track owners, they need a different name for the corner so people quit calling it the "Corkscrew" since that name is already taken.
The PCA has an event on April 7th. Hooked on Driving NW and Turn2 will have some early events as well. Check back with the Ridge website in a few weeks as they are currently experiencing computer problems.

speed3 is a great daily, does really well in the snow, even w street tires (60+% weight on the drive wheels) and takes 6-8 corvette wheels/tires inside
also, is a monster track car in the wet.
anyhow, hooked on driving has april weekend up for registrations on their website.
