I owned a 09 Z51 and went to a Z06 oil cooler...it helped on the track and was fine for the steet...it took alittle longer to get up to temps but it was fine..
If your serious about tracking the car alot get the finspeed...I don't have personnal expericence with it but I'm sure it works better then the z06 cooler..If your only running a few events a year then your fine with the Z06 cooler..

Z06 cooler on o9 z51
I did that swap, very easy but too cool on street and still too hot on 30 min summer (90 degree) track sessions. I still hit 290 oil temp shifting @6200 rpms. Now adding new Dewitts radiator and hoping for 260 oil.

I can give my experiences as well.
Started with LS2 Z51 with integral oil cooler in radiator - saw 275 F halfway through road course sessions and had to back down. Moved to Z06 external cooler and saw peak of 275F in 75 F ambient temps! No cool down laps. Lost the motor due to a timing chain, swapped to 11 qt dry sump LS3 and saw peak of 275 F (probably 20+ F lower overall). Needed one cool down lap towards the end of my session in 94F ambient weather (probably about 10F lower temps given similar conditions). All this being said, my driving has improved significantly over the course of these upgrades.
Howie, is the Finspeed a plug and play with the stock Z06 lines? How does it attach to the car? I think my driving is approaching the limit of this oil cooler.

The FINSPEED also comes with an insert to block the flow through the cooler for street driving to keep your oil temps where they should be. I also use their mesh grill for easy access to the cooler.

This is what my old cooler looked like. Not good for air flow.

The stock unit is a decent cooler, but is less than durable.....and not a good idea to buy a used one.
Our cooler is more robust, has a superior tube and fin design, and adds an extra .75 qts of capacity. As Howard says, it does work with the stock lines, or any -AN setup you would like to run.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
