Me too...

Gotta get my high-speed license re-qualified though. My last one was 2004...and now it's every 3 years. I'm a little behind.

Here are the really good pictures of the damage under the car...

It'll need an entire new floor pan...they hacked it up taking the drivetrain out, and the guardrail did a real number on it too.

Pay no attention to that fuel tank in the floor of the car...

And amazingly enough...the passenger window is still in one piece!

Now, I've got to order a set of shop manuals for a '92. My '91 shop manuals won't help me at all with this car which has ASR on it, and there are connectors on here my '91 doesn't have.

Let the fun begin....

Done! Let me know what size rim/tire set up your running. I have some ALMS non DOT slicks in a few 18" sizes I could ship down to you.

PM me the details so I can start working on this now and help you out.

The HP of over 650 is not in dispute. It is the 700 foot pounds out of 427 ci along with 750 hp out of small 227 cc heads.

I know what it takes to be in the 700 hp and it is bigger valves than tiny 2.08, lifts higher than .700 inches, and intake durations exceeding 256 deg @ .050

Even head manufactures bring up little facts like what I stated. But it will be fun even at a lower level.

Only lower body panels from the doors back are different on the LT5 cars...besides that LT5 and a different ZF6

The frame is the same, along with all the suspension components.

I have all the parts I need for the body...I'll just need to get a floor pan from a wrecked car.

We'll I finally won something....

Good to see it found a home, can't keep a good ZR-1 or LT5 down.

Did he use the LT5 and things out of it? I think he was rebuilding another ZR-1 if I remember right??

Motor & trans were used for another car. I believe it will be happy with me when I'm done...it'll be on the track kicking a$$ and taking names.

It just won't have an LT5 in it

The plus side is parts are MUCH cheaper for a Chevy SBC...machining as well.

Hey Joe! It was nice meeting you Monday. Can't wait to see the "Z" back on the track. Smooth transaction and a great guy to deal with.

PS
My new 91 Z is in Chicago for LT5 rehab. Should have it back in a few weeks.

Thanks Brett! Glad you made it back without incident.

We got power back around 11 am Monday, car is on the lift and examining the work needed.

Might need to talk to you about that body kit we discussed...

I scored a few parts for the car yesterday...

1 - Lightweight CF top
1 - Lexan Hatch cover

I'll hopefully get this car to the shop in a month or so to have the frame pulled and start working on it.

I've had 2 things stand in my way so far:

- Time
- Money...we paved 2 miles of road, the driveway and a parking lot. Needless to say I could have purchased a new Z07 with that check

P.S. I found a floor pan for $100 at a salvage yard...so that won't be so bad on the wallet...and an estimate of ~$850 to straighten the frame.

It's been a while...so an update is in order.

I've been swamped with work between building a couple houses and our main client hiring us to deploy new diagnostic & testing equipment worldwide...I've had absolutely zero time to work on this until a few weeks ago.

I took it to the best frame shop in these parts and they looked at it and backed away from anything to do with it. It seems the car had a BIT more wrong with it than appeared to the casual eye...going up on the wall at Ennis and spinning around tagging the concrete wall did a number on the frame.

Rather than go through the effort of fixing that (and forever wondering if something was twerked on it) I called Dino's Corvette Salvage in Mississippi. He offered a "trade" for my car plus some money (and, not much at that) for a Red/Tan '90 ZR-1 he had that had been in a flash flood.

I went and picked it up over the weekend and took it to Winding Road Racing today for a cage evaluation. Once they get done researching what I want to do and what the requirements are...I will take it back and have them start on the cage.

The adventure finally resumes...
