Default PTA/TTA Z06 for sale - 20K

Ok, I know how it looks when you're selling a car 2 months after you bought it, but this is a little different. I picked this up for my son (and occasional PTA race myself) but he went off twice in it at CMP 2 weeks ago. So after some discussions we decided this is too much car for him. So, it's back for sale as I don't need 3 race cars myself.

Car is almost exactly how I got it, except AC lines have been pulled and welded. Check engine light is on - secondary O2 sensor went out. I'm not planning on replacing it since it's for emission and has no impact on how the car runs. I just had the car checked out by our local shop and it's ready to run. Here is Jason's description of the car:

02 Z06
Gutted, caged, NASA log book
PTA/TTA legal
~36,000 miles on stock LS6
~32,000 of those were street miles
Fresh valve springs
Pfadt T1 bars, '04Z shocks
Oil cooler
Trans cooler
Spec clutch, alum flywheel
Has held a few track records along the way.
2009 SE Region TTA Champion
Took 3rd at Nats after coming from the back due to driver stupidity.

2 or 3 sets of wheels.
4 or 5 sets of A6 tires
New set of Hoosier wets
Many Spare rotors

Rebuilt and strengthened transmission.
Dynoed 363hp in 2009 when tuned by Danny Popp.
Dynoed 365hp in 2011 at Nationals after installing fresh valve springs.

The left front is scraped up from contact with a tire wall. Fender inner is cracked but it's not a big deal. Been running with it for 2 years now. As you can see from this picture, you can't even see it unless you are right up on it.

$20k
Black #07

Here is the car being prepped for CMP:

What run group is your son in? Could the car be de-tune? What tires is he driving on?

Kevin - for once I can honestly say It really is not my car ADD. It's his car and he wants something slower.

Brian - come on! A $1,000 - you gave me almost that much for some Hoosiers!

Kim - He ran 295 R6s on it for DE. He was in DE1 (he's done 4-5 weekends so far). I'm not worried about his safety, but this is the kind of car that encourages you to go fast and I'm glad he understands that and wants to drop back to a car that will teach him more.

I was just curious of his skill level. I try and encourage my DE1 students to run a street tire with 200-300 tread wear. Mainly because they give some good feedback to the driver in terms of squealing. The R comps do not give any feedback and just let go.

The NT05 is 200 tread-wear.

Fine.... $1001 and not a penny more

I agree with Kim... maybe try the car on street tires that talk to you. R6s are a horrible idea for a novice.

It wasn't so much the tire and he's determined to get something dual duty, so the car has to go.

Mine didn't give me a choice to go left. I swear it was like a tractor beam coming off that wall.

Greg can't have this car - it might actually make him go faster!

On a side note, if it doesn't sell in 3 weeks I'll bring it out to Charlotte - still need to get 2 more qualifying races for Nationals and would be nice to beat up on Kevin and Mo.

Haha... I wasn't burned in the picture. I'm extremely paranoid about being burned. I put on sunscreen like every hour.

the mafia should just pitch in 3 grand each and we'll just keep it at each event as a back up car
