June Sprints 2012
Looks like a smaller turn out for T1 this year.
First practice - Buttermore out in front.

I don't think so, but a lot more STO cars seemed to show up. I don't recall the exact numbers... Looked like Pintaric and Onks we set up to have a great race, they swapped P1 during qually a couple of times... in the high teens.
Why didn't you run???

I believe there were 8 STO cars registered.. Not sure if all of them ran yesterday... I know at least one T2 car double dipped into the STO group just to get points in STO..
And one butt whooping by Pintaric at Mid-Ohio a couple weeks ago was enough for me...

T1 Qualifying (for all two of us):
1. John Buttermore, C6 LS3 GS: 2:21.714
2. Jason Berkeley, C6 LS3 GS: 2:25.405
T1 Race:
1. John Buttermore, C6 LS3 GS: 2:23.9
2. Jason Berkeley, C6 LS3 GS: 2:27.4
This is only the second time i've run this car on a track I have been to before, and only my 5th weekend in the car. Made good progress in terms of getting to a decent handling base-line set-up, so i'm pretty happy with the progress.
John is flying and driving great.
Sad what the SCCA has done to scare people off from running in T1...
May have to find a new sand-box to play in next year.

Stock LS3 motor is rated at 3110 for weight in STO.. weight alone should shave off at least 5 seconds a lap at Road America..

The problem is cost and time to develop an STO car. It's not as simple as throwing on a splitter and wing- Stiffer springs, re-valved shocks, and the time and money to develop, is why I didn't want to run in STO in the first place.
I love the idea of dropping all of the lead, throwing in some headers, and racing the car that way, but it will never be competative unless you did the aero and suspension work required when you add the aero.

Car was great during practice / qualifying, race, not so much.
It pushed ungodly bad especially in LH turns, and the electrical died completely 3 times during the race, totally black dash, engine shut off, data / video lost.
The RR stab bar link bolt broke, rattled, or otherwise fell out on lap 3.
The electrical died on lap 5 for just a second, lap 6 for about 15 seconds, and on lap 9 for about 10 seconds.
Died again on the cooldown lap for 30 seconds.
Plus a trailer tire delaminated on the way home.
All in all a fun time. . . . Don't care, still love Road America.
