3.90 and short 5&6 gears : is that good idea?
My transmission or rear differential is singing. It means my gear box will be opened in august to see if the are bearings to be changed.
As the gear box will be opened, I was wondering if it was a good opportunity to replace my 5&6 gears with shorter models from rpm transmission ?
> is it a quick operation once the gear box is open?
> will that be a good move for my track days?
> is there any other parts to be reinforced to get the gear box better (sturdier and better shifting)?
My C5 is a 1999 model (Europe) with intake, headers and 3.90 stage two. I use it on road a little bit and on tracks.
Thanks.

3.90 is great for the street, perfect for auto-x, good for short road course but alot of shifting for fast road course. I did the short 5-6 swap and it works great for fast 5th gear tracks.
