Default PIC: New HOWE Mustang body for V8 StockCar & TA2

Just received a pic of the new Mustang that will be eligible for Crane Cams V8 StockCar, SCCA GTA and Trans Am 2.

Howe also makes the chassis for these. The Mustang will be at Road Atlanta at the ARRC on display.

I think the wing on this car is the Euro version for the series across the pond.

Default Mustang

Looks good.

Hopefully it will encourage more entries and maybe get some Trans Am races out on the mid west/west coast.

Yep, I love the look of both the Camaro and the Mustang but like your Corvette the most!

Thanks, we are starting to get the Vette dialed in, it ran very well the last two times out at Homestead and Daytona. One win and two seconds competing against cars with a lot more HP.

Underneath, the Vette is very similar to the Camaro and Mustang. Meaning the Vette is really a GTA type car with a Corvette body, but with 18" inch wheels and tires.

So does howe have them finalized? I spoke to them about 2 months ago and they said they didn't know when the mustang would be available. They also didn't know what motor the mustangs would be allowed for TA2. Any ideas?

Should be available soon. Right now you could use a conventional small block Ford 302 based or the 351 type. Our team recently acquired a
GTA/TA2 Ford Taurus and it has a 302 stroked to 347. Very strong motor.

I think Trans Am is working on some different options for the Ford cars.

Where did you get the Corvette body to put on the GTA car?
What had to be done to make it fit.
I may have missed it if this was discussed before.

Thanks Jim M.

Now that is Bad Assss!!!
The Camaro and Mustang bodies are all GTA needs to turn it from a good class into a great class.
Those old stock car bodies made the GTA cars look like ****!

See you this weekend Bosco.

The chassis is a custom tube frame by Woody at Bemco Fab in Deland, Fl.
The car is just built along the basic blueprint of a GTA type. The front suspension geometry is basically the same as the Howe GTA/TA2 type.

It uses a TEX/GForce Nascar road race 4 speed and a Nascar type 9" rear end. Weighs about 2800 with driver, has 420 HP to the wheels or thereabouts.

The body is stock gutted GM bought off ebay etc. Except for the roof which is the World Challenge type, and the hood which is one of the Howe Camaro hoods cut to fit the Vette. The body is only about 40# heavier than the race versions by my calculations.

I bought a tube chassis a few months ago with that was used for a TA2 Monte Carlo. Got the MC body panels as well but would LOVE to plop a corvette body panel package on there.

Would the chassis need to be heavily modded to make one of these fit?

Jay, I don't think there is anyway to put a Vette body on an ASA/GTA type Monte Carlo. At least not without cutting the entire halo/cab bars and starting over there. Like I said, mine was a custom build, it just uses the GTA type formula.

Woody at Bemco Fab has a bare Corvette tube chassis he built as a prototype at his shop that could utilize your parts though. (if you have the suspension, etc). It is a very nice piece. He could take your parts and finish the car. He is very affordable as well.

You could also put a Howe Camaro or Mustang body on the GTA type chassis, or at least Woody has several times.

Probably when some group comes forward that wants to help with the cost of making the molds. As always, there has to be a demand first.
