Default Which of these tire sizes will be best at the track?

1. 275/40/17 F. 315/30/18 R.
2. 315/35/17 F & R
3. 315/30/18 F & R
4. 315/35/17 F. 315/30/18 R.

I am currently running #1 which has worked well, but am curious if either of the others might be an improvement? For the most part car is very predictable, but at times will want to come around and surprise me.

Square setups like 2 and 3 work well. I currently run 305x18 (dry) and 275x18 (wet). I used to run 18x315. I run on the same wheels so I can swap things around at the track to manage wear.

LOADED Question! Many variables such as car set up, weather, track condition, the track itself (layout) and what the driver likes.

You really don't know unless you have the time and money to do testing. Stick with what you like.

if the rear comes around and surprises you, try lowering air pressure in the rear tires. Try softening the rear bar if it is adjustable or put on a smaller rear swaybar (I used T1 up front and stock in rear). Also try softening the rear shocks if adjustable. Only do one of these at a time. if the rear comes around on corner entry, don't trail brake; do your braking in a straight line to see if that helps it.

if the rear comes around with 295's up front, putting 315's up front will make that worse because you will give the fronts MORE traction. edit - if you get the handling situation under control, I would think 315's all around would be the fastest combo.

Well I don't know what my "favorite" is yet as I have not tried them all. I have had very good success on the bigger/longer/faster tracks with the current combo. It's the shorter/slower tracks I'd like more cornering grip on. In fact, would one dare try a 315/17 on the current 9.5" front wheels if they were planning to get wider ones anyway? Downside?

315's on a 9.5 wheel is a bit much, I believe.
