Default Aussie built C5 Z06 race car

Just thought I would share a few pics of my Z06 race car I am building.
I have stripped it out and put it on the scales with it now sitting at 2650 lbs but I still need to put a cage in it and a few other things but I am pretty sure I can get it on the track at about 2800 lbs I have installed 4.10 gears, headers a big cam and changed to a high rise manifold. I am in the process of making a new front splitter and I have removed ALL the wiring and the ABS. It's not that easy to build a Vette here in Australia.

I hope my pics work

He didn't...

That's just a big 4-barrel throttle body on top. The injectors are clearly visible along with the fuel rail.

Hey Boschvette, I too am building a Z06 (c6 though) for competition in Sydney. What type of racing are you going to be doing - sportsedan? I am building mine to Production Sportscar/GT specs. Hard to get decent freight rates out to us eh!

Hey mate I am going to run in NSW sports sedans and muscle car in the IRACE series. You are not wrong about the shipping cost I use shipito have you tried them. I would love to see your car one day are you leaving it LHD?

We will definitely see each other around then as I might run with sports sedans some times as well, but mostly I will race Prod Sports. I will setup my own thread with pics soon, mine should have the engine back in any day now, just waiting for a retainer from comp cams.then it's cage gets fitted and its almost good to go....finally.

Looks good guys!. I ship part to a guy in New Zealand USPS and it's somewhat affordable. Bigger objects have to go UPS-SCS and it's not cheap.

Good luck guys!

Thanks Randy. Many vendors to try to help us out which is very much appreciated - especially by me! I have been purchasing parts from the USA since early 2000 and found USPS to be excellent. UPS, Fedex and DHL are great but the prices can be horrific. When I need big stuff, I get it shipped by sea - far cheaper but far slower!

Looks like you did a great job on the car. Sucks the bearing failed so quickly. Time for an ARE dry sump system.

The Dailey system is more involved than the others out there. You have to have custom motor mounts to make clearance for the massive oil pump. The oil feed has to be tapped into the side or back of the motor. Mine is on the side that feeds to where the oil pump use to be. Some guys have it tapped in the back. You have to modify (grind away) the engine cradle to have enough clearance for the wide pan as there are no oil lines. Great system, but be prepared for more than the cost of parts for the Dailey.

I know where you can get the custom mounts for around $300.00. The Dailey is the better pump hands down. Did not have to grind down my cradle. PM me for more info.

I already got them from SpeedSouth. They're nice. Looked at your profile and I'm sure that was what you were going to suggest.

Here's the pan resting on the cradle.

Here's some material ground away.

What a great looking system what is the cost on it? I am looking at the LS-B aviaid system I like the idea of an internal pump has anyone had any experience with this one?

The pan was $1400 and the pump was $1800. Motor mounts were $275. Then there was the belt and odds and ends. I think about another $250. I forgot how much I paid the shop for the install the system. Worth every penny. I too spun a bearing after a fresh rebuild on my LS1.

Here's the video.

Good luck.
