Default Lottes + Blu808 C5 Build

Long time lurker on this forum, starting this thread to show the build of my C5 corvette. This car is getting constructed just for HPDE. I stripped the car down, removed the roof, trimmed the doors, etc. Luke Lonberger and crew at CLP Motorsports in the Bay area are doing an awesome job on the fabrication. When the car is finished I'll be tracking it in the North Carolina area.

Update 1
Started with my 1999 C5 hardtop. Really miss driving this car on the street. If I was wiser at the time I would have kept this car for the road and purchased another to destroy into a track car. Here is starting the cage. The main hoop goes to the frame with temp pockets cut in the rear tub to get the cage back without any extra bends.

Early work on the rear part of the cage.

Steering and pedal assembly. Cage has nascar style bars on both sides (keeping a passenger seat) extending into the hollowed out door area.

Wing mounted. Doing something different for this car, not keeping the rear bumper body work, more on this later in the build.

Radiator adjusted for front breathing, more work to be done here. Was originally planning on tubing the front of the car (can see the cut lines drawn), but ended up deciding to leaving the box frame.

Some ACP World Challenge body work up front. Aero tubing down to the splitter is very solid. Running 315 square setup on this car (for ease of spare) but not a wide body. Like the rear, the cage ties into the front suspension. Dry sump tank mounted inside the case passenger side where part of the stock firewall was. The stock motor is still in the car at this point, but looking at fitment for twin intake. After radiator venting was finished (more later) ultimately decided to do a full custom firewall and run the intake backwards (in progress now).

Midway into the radiator venting. Everything is designed for ease of maintenance. The exit venting box is easily removable, likewise the entry box is similar (not pictured here), and front body work is easily removable.

This is before mounting the correct engine, cutting out the stock firewall, etc. The undertray+splitter is mounted in 7 places with everything easy to service (front bar mounting visible here).

More next time...

Update 2
Went with Racing Shields for the front and rear polycarbonate windshield (I have a C5 hardtop). Payed extra for the "Stock Trimmed" option, but both front and back were still oversized and required extra trimming for install.

The front fascia, splitter, and tunneled undertray are from ACP. Kerry (owner at ACP) was quite helpful. The undertray is designed to easily mount to modified front sway bar brackets. Here is a shot of one of the brackets Luke modified,

This ACP setup requires trimming for install. The undertray ships oversized (see photo below). This was confusing at first because it requires cutting into the honeycomb of the undertray. Afterwords the undertray mounts under the front splitter and then the fascia mounts onto the splitter.

Update 3
Continuing with undertray mounting,

Engine started from this Blu808 built 402ci stroker, later modified with ARE dry sump and Ozmo dual intake,

Solid mounted,

Solid mounted as low as can be done with stock front cradle and ARE 1005M pan,

Running LG Motorsports headers,

Ozmo intake running backwards since to low clearance from radiator exit. Currently working on new firewall and intake piping. Current thinking is 90 bends running tubing under windshield area to left and right air boxes filed from naca ducts on back part of hood towards outside,

Update 4
Rear firewall is removable, still need to seal after body gets paint,

Kept the stock windshield pillars,

Windshield pillars were cut so the cage could fit slightly inside the pillar,

Has great visibility,

Sick build!

I have been to the shop a few times and the car is amazing in person.

Not sure if you follow the Blu808 guys on facebook but have you seen what they posted up today?

Looks like they finally pulled the trigger on making an entirely new bolt on suspension system for the C5/C6 cars.

Looks to be like every component of the cars suspension gets replaced with an adjustable billet piece.

Here are the teaser pics that were posted.

They should have more info soon as they mention.
Maybe you can shed some light on this new system? Are you going to be testing it with them?

Yes, looking forward to it! But cannot add any extra info right now.

This is probably a good time to mention that I might not keep my stock parts as spares, in case anyone is interested in buying them. For instance, I've got clean and well maintained <10K road miles (no track miles) control arms with new and still unused Pfadt spherical bearings and ball joints installed.

Update 5
Progress on the firewall and intake. There is a removable heat shield around the dry sump tank with venting from the side with an exit close to the center tunnel.

I like B&W better, after paint on final assembly I'm likely to go to color.
