Default Track tire Nitto NT-01 on stock rims

Hi,
Anyone had experience with NT-01 on stock rims?
I would be interested to know.
Due to the fact that rear is 315/30/18 and front 275/40/17 would this affect the car in anyway? Acceleration?
Your comments would be appreciated!

Too bad Toyo killed the 305/18 RA1, that was the perfect size.

I've been running them on my Z for three years. It's a good compromise tire. My car does double duty with stock engine and only cooling/longevity upgrades. I can't afford to run Hoosier etc., so this tire keeps my bookkeeper happy, and I get a pretty good track tire.
I am running stock Z06 rims FYI.

John

I've run them and those sizes work fine on stock C5 Z06 rims. No concerns with handling or acceleration.

Does anyone have pics of these installed on a C5Z? I'm wondering what a stretch they are.

I have run 275/40/17 front with 315/30/18 rear and 275/35/18 rear. I prefer the 275/35/18 rear over the 315/30/18. I have a C5Z with Pfadt Stage 1 JOC kit and poly bushings. They are mounted on OEM rims. The car feels very neutral an balanced.

Details on why you prefer the 275 in the rears?

I have run oem size wheels 17/18 and am now running the 18's square with 315's. Either way they do well. I think they are the best for HPDE's but they won't bring home any TT's.

With the 315 rear the car had slight understeer tendencies. You could correct for this with throttle but it never really drove as neutral as I would have liked. Also, the way that the 315 NT-01 sits on the OEM 10.5" rim it seemed like the whole tire was never really being optimized. Although my tire temps were balanced across the face of the tire, the rear were always substantially cooler than the front (150 deg vs. 200 deg). With the 275 all around the car feels extremely neutral, still has plenty of rear grip for 400hp, and the front/rear and side/side tire temps are very balanced. So far I have run faster with the 275 all around as well.

Sebring,

Here's 1 more vote for the NTO1...I've run the 275-40-17 F w/ 315-30-18 rear w/no issues on stock rims. Active handling works fine if desired. Lap times about the same or 1/2 sec better maybe than the Nitto R-II which is the same compound. I would say there are no issues at all w/this combo. The car does understeer a bit and I'm in ABS all the way in braking zones, but that is not the tire's fault so much as it might be the tire size I choose as an issue. Many have suggested that a square setup is better.

Steve,

Can you comment on your JOC bar settings that you used for both tire combos? I've used the center position on the rear bar only and I agree there is still some understeer tendency. I think it's a little less than stock but maybe not much.

Will the 315's on a C5Z rear rim fit up front on a C5Z? Running 315 square on stock C5Z rears all around would be nice assuming they fit at all 4 corners.

The tire will rub just a little but will 'melt' away any interference. No problem, really. My front fenders look just fine even if you look really close. Tires only scrubbed away 1/4"? 3/8" ? or so..

Sebring... Have those exact sizes on my stock c5z wheels.

Great for dual duty (not much km's put on the street), so that helps. Don't get caught in a rain store though!

I am also running the middle bar setting on both the 275/315 and square 275 setup. Im sure the stiffer rear bar setting would help, however I felt that most of the issue was coming from the excessive stagger on an otherwise balanced car.

I am runningKumho V710 315/18 on the front and 345/18 on the back with sport sway bars and FSD shocks, very strong track alignment and she loves to turn! Sticks like glue. Now I need 200 more HP! lol
