While waiting for LeMans, here is a less glorious race...
...from Auto Club Speedway in California.
Thanks to Hawk Performance for some outstanding brakes. Clearly I was able to make up a lot of ground in the brake zones against some more powerful cars. The DTC70 pads stayed strong and consistent throughout the race.
Video edited by my daughter Silaine Thordarson.
Here is the Sunday Group 6 race featuring GT1, T1, GT2, GT3, ASC and more.
I enjoyed the race. The car ran good. I got passed by a number of cars at the start, but worked my way up to first in GT2 and second overall. I am particularly proud of my pass at minute 22:45

Very cool video and excellent racing.
The #19 Viper had more horsepower than your car (which is definitely no slouch!), but your braking and handling were almost able to beat it out. I see why you are so proud of that pass.
What class were the Monte Carlo/stock car-looking cars? I know a Monte of that vintage is front-wheel-drive, but the black car looked to be rear-wheel-drive and the white car seemed to have plenty of power, as it took off like a rocket at the start of the race.
Interesting race, in some ways more interesting than the Corvettes at Le Mans!

THe Monte Carlos are ASC cars. I think they are about 2800 lbs and around 450 RWHP, but I could be off on both. The black car is a GT-1 car and I had nothing for him once he got it pointed straight.
My car is putting out 389 RWHP at about 3230 at the start of the race and about 3170 dry with driver.

That is common in club racing. The fendered cars go into one race group, sports racers into another group, open wheel in another group, etc. This is done to keep cars of approximate weight, speed and build together for safety and better racing.
You don't want a 3000 lb plus production car running over a 1200 lb open wheel car during an incident.
Any given race weekend there can be 150 or more cars running in as many as 20 or more classes.
