Burning Brakes
Hey Adam,
I like the street and road courses. I am a "novice" on the track. When my dusty Hawk + pads are gone should I be doing XP10 and XP12? I don't want the squeek if I can help it.

Carbotech 1521 is a quiet street pad that is compatible with their track pads. Dust is low, very easy to clean and does not damage wheel finishes when wet. It has the same great modulation characteristics as their track pads.

From street use to the higher performance demands of track days, we'll help you achieve better brake modulation, torque and fade resistance. High-tech construction means better stopping power and a higher level of driver confidence every time you get behind the wheel.

I was considering the weight of the vehicle, they should work great on track and to from the event should not be an issue, I have vette customers that DD them. If you want to go with 10 & 8 that will work too.

I run xp20 front and xp10 rear on the track and street. Very happy with my setup. Yes, they are noisy on the street, but my cam, headers, and exhaust are so loud that no one probably notices the brakes.

Adam,
Some feedback for you to pass along to your customers. Danny and Chris had me try a set of RP2s on 6617 backing plates in my Wilwood W6A and W4A setup on my Z06. I ran them for a practice day and two days of racing a couple of weeks ago at Watkins Glen. Loved them! Great bite and great feel. Coming on and off the brakes is very smooth with them.
I have ran almost all variations of Carbotech pads (Panthers, Bobcats, XP8s, XP10s, XP12s, XP20s) over the past six years on multiple street cars and race cars and I think I like these about the best. My all time favorite combo will probably always be XP12/XP10 on a C5, but to have the same pads in the same compound on the same backing plate on the car now allows for a new level of simplicity and reliability.

Do the 20/10's have more tendency to crack rotors, than the 10/8 combination ? Talking about running on street rubber. Not hard core, no race seats, no harnesses.

Our compounds are very rotor friendly, rarely have I seen a cracked rotor with any of our compounds. But to answer your question the XP20 is still very rotor friendly maybe not as friendly as the 10 but, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference in rotor wear.
