Default Crane Cams V8 StockCar Daytona Saturday Result

Dillon Machavern won overall Saturday in the Riggins Engineering built Heritage Motorsport V8 GT-1 Ford Falcon.

Second overall and second in V8 GT-1 was Nick Hazelwood in the Hammer Magnum Racing, Pancho Weaver built Corvette. This was Nick's first race laps at Daytona, as he sat out qualifying due to the wet track.

Third overall and third in V8 GT-1 was Bobby Kennedy in the Bemco Camaro, also started near the rear of the field. Notable as this car is similar to the TA2 type Camaro's except for it is powered by a 550 HP LS6.
Gives away 250 HP plus to the full on GT-1's. Uses 10" wide stock car rubber.

First in V8 SPO (the stock car SPO class) was Willie Mullins in the Bugsys Automotive Ford Fusion ex Robby Gordon)

First in V8 GT2 was the CrossRoads Motorsports Corvette of Randy Kinsland in a close race with the Goldin Bros ex Grand Am GT Mazda RX8.

First in V8 GTA was Gary Burnette in an ASA type Monte Carlo with conventional SBC power.

Fast lap 1.50 and change by Machavern on a slightly damp track.
Data showed 203 mph in the tri-oval.

Race two of the weekend top ten

1. Dillon Machavern 1:48.4 Riggins Eng Falcon GT1
2. Nick Hazelwood 1:51.6 Hammer Magnum GT1 C6
3. Willie Mullins 1:54.4 Bugsy's Auto Ford Fusion SPO
4. Bobby Kennedy 1:57.1 Howe/Bemco Camaro LS6 GT1
5. Ray Webb 1:56.7 Penske Dodge Charger GT1
6. Lee Arnold 2:00.8 V8SC Chevy Impala late model SPO
7. Tad Segars 2:00.6 Kimrey racing Pontiac GP late model SPO
8. Randy Kinsland 2:00.7 Crossroads mtspts Corvette GT2
9. Rod Hatfield 2:00.6 SPO Chevy Monte Carlo
10 Squeak Kennedy 2:00.4 Howe/Bemco GTA Ford Taurus

17 year old Dillon Machavern was running similar times to 2012 Trans Am Champ Simon Gregg when he brings his TA Corvette to DIS.

16 year old Nick Hazelwood was impressive in his first DIS appearance finishing second in all races to Machavern. This is his first season in a GT-1 car after winning the V8SC V8 GT-2 championship last year in his Z06 Corvette. Nick's current car is a full on Trans Am type with 800 plus HP.

19 year old Bobby Kennedy cut some 1:56 laps in the Bemco Camaro. The car runs in V8 GT-1 but is really just a slightly warmed over GTA/TA2 type with about 550 HP. Uses the ten inch wide stock car rubber instead of full on GT-1 shoes.

These three young hotshoes plus last years GTA champ and as of today 2013 TA2 Champ Cameron Lawrence, gives the V8 series four of the hottest young big noise drivers in the country.

Kennedy and Lawrence already have professional wins, with Lawrence now becoming the youngest champ in SCCA Trans Am History at 21 years old.
