Corvette wins Trans Am at Daytona and Championship
Doug Peterson took the season ending race at Daytona in the Tony Ave Racing Corvette giving him the season championship.
The Corvette of Charles Wicht made a big move from 6th to 3rd in the closing laps. Wicht carried a cone from the "bus stop" with him to the finish line. Maybe the first time a cone has finished on the podium in Trans Am. I'll have to find some pics of this.
CF's own Dave Pintaric ran near the front early, eventually finishing 8th.
These cars are so freaking fast....Tony Ave qualified with a 1:43 and ran some 1:42's in practice.

I was there running with HSR.
Bosco. I could not believe the times they were putting down!
I finally ran a 2:018 in the Panoz in a brief moment when the track was dry and I thought I was flying!

Me, Cliff Ebben and Simon Gregg were fighting for third (which eventually turned into a fight for second) when I lost second gear and became a rolling chicane. Tough end to a tough year.
I did earn the 2013 Trans Am Rookie of the Year, though. So maybe the year wasn't a complete washout.
For us, 2014 starts today...

David - congrats on your season and the award. The first season is always tough - you made it through in one piece and seem to be in pretty good shape for next year.

Yes, 2013 was a tough year, but this IS Trans Am, it's not supposed to be easy!
I look back at some of my performances and can't wait to get back at it, I'm kicking myself for what I did do and what I didn't do...2014 started today.
I will have a Daytona post-race report soon, and then a 2013 full-season report after that. A preview to both: "These cars are soooo cool, and the series is fantastic!"

Bosco, great watching the race from my tailgate with Steve! I think my springs are shot and didn't know a Toyota could pull the front wheels.
David, great meeting you and congratulations on the season. Larry has new cars under construction so these are available. You were running great until the tranny broke. Do you run the Hewland too?
Sorry to see Amy go out early, some of us remember the family from NCCC high speed autocrosses at Roebling over Thanksgiving weekends past.
I'll be there on Saturday this year, hope it doesn't snow.
Sorry for the quality of my pictures. My shots have gotten worse with time with my digital camera.
Charles with the cone, that's two seconds, right?
David, going so fast it's blurry:
Amy when things were running well:
Ken Bupp, local friend finishing better than I expected I'm happy to say!
Doug Peterson 1st, Cliff Ebben in the Mustang in 2nd and Charles Wicht making a tight race toward the end.
Maybe we'll be able to see you Trans Am guys again next year at Daytona. What a great support race it would be for the 24 Hours!
