Default Shop recommendations in the NE

Have someone looking to prep and possible bring his Corvette for races/track days in the NE. He lives in northern Jersey. Any recommendations?? I did mention Joe A to him already, but he is looking for someone closer.

It sort of depends on what is meant by prepping the car. Are we talking about prepping the car for a school, for a race, something else. A first time track goer can get by with a simple car check up for leaks, fluid levels, brake pad thickness, flushing of the brake fluid and a tire check. Not to new of a tire and nothing less than 3/32 of an inch. There are plenty of tech inspection check lists available from the various schools that show the minimum that should be done.

If the person doing the inspection is just a local mechanic he should be informed the car will be heavily used similar to towing a heavy trailer on steep hills on a very hot day. That will get his mind in the correct place as far as inspecting the cooling system, fluids and brakes.

http://www.cartek.net/ in Garwood.

Engine/tuning/fabrication guru. He's also been working on lots of NASA NE race cars including mine on occasion. Definitely worth a shot.

I've also used ECS and Phoenix and like them all. They all have different areas of expertise.
