Default C5 Corvette: Hoosier A6 vs R6 for HPDE/ Road Course Duty

I keep reading conflicting information regarding Hoosier A6 vs R6 or road course duty. Some guys are saying that A6's will become overheated and wear out quickly, and if they are in fact used for HPDE events, that they should be used in cold weather only. Anyone have any insight?

Reason I ask is that good used A6's come up for sale waaaay more often than R6's do.

Why don't you go for scrubs? Good deals here on the forum for Pirelli or Conti slicks.

If you are just running HPDE I would go with the R6 tire. It will last considerably longer than the A6. If you are running TT or competition of some type, go with the A6. You need every bit of stickiness you can get. I also would look at what scrub slicks are available, some good deals out there.

I wish the scrub tires were more commonly available in 295/35/17

Seems 315/35/17 is pretty common
