Default Wilwood brake upgrades from LG Motorsports

Been thinking about upgrading the brakes on your Corvette for the upcoming season?

LG Motorsports and Wilwood have a number of very affordable options for C5, C6, and C6Z guys that might not want to jump into a full four wheel kit.

C6Z06 two piece front rotor upgrade

This is a great way to remove weight from the nose of your Z06 and give your brakes better performance and longer rotor life. These kits are offered in both a slotted only, or slotted and drilled.

MSRP $745/pair

C6 Z51 guys, tired of screwing with the factory two piston calipers? Wilwood has you covered as well with the W6A caliper upgrade. This allows you to keep your factory rotors and install a quality 6 piston caliper.

W6A C6 Z51 caliper upgrade

W6A six piston radial mount calipers offer delivers heavy duty stopping power for the road or track. The caliper incorporates race technology into a proprietary forged body design with widespread adaptability. Radial mounting allows unparalleled adjustability and stable mounting platform gives this caliper the versatility necessary to suit all types of heavy weight braking requirements. Stainless steel pistons in the calipers resist fade and extend service life by reducing the heat transfer from the pads, caliper body, fluid, and seals. Kits also include high temperature, high friction race compound pads and all premium grade fasteners.

MSRP starting at $1025.95

Base C6, and C5 cars, we have have you covered as well.

LG Motorsports G-Stop C5/6 caliper upgrade kit

Great front brake upgrade for those not wanting to go to a larger diameter wheel Our G-Stop kit was built to remove those weak factory two piston calipers and skinny 14mm thick pads for something a bit more robust. Our G-Stop kit uses a full width SL6 caliper that can hold a full 20mm thick brake pad. Not only do you have a more stable caliper with more clamping force but also more heat insulation from the thicker pads to insure you have a solid pedal for your entire time on track. Best part? They use OEM sized rotors so replacements are easy to find and very cost friendly!

MSRP starting at $1495.95

Of course there are still full four wheel kits, and more complete race kits to choose from. If you have a question about these, pads, or any other brake upgrade for your car, shoot me a message or ring me here at the shop.

It will take a spacer to clear the stock wheels and longer wheel studs.

That is a caliper upgrade kit, it uses the stock Z51 C6 rotor. The full kit with two piece rotors is a bit more.

re: W6As on a c5, do they fit using the z06 rear 18x10.5" wheels on the front without spacers and/or new studs? How thick are the pads the W6A uses?

That is a seriously good price, how are they cheaper than the SL6?

They have no plans to do a rear. Honestly there is no good way to do a two piece rear rotor. Between the depth of the caliper and the parking brake hat behind it, there is no good way to use for a quality attachment hardware system. Given the size of the stock, there is not much weight to be lost either. StopTech makes a slotted only rear one piece rotor that would match up with it pretty well.

Using the 18x10.5 on the front you have room for just about any 14" BBK on those cars. StopTech ST60's fit, Brembo 350mm and 365mm kits work and the 14" W6A's clear no problem at all.

I do have to measure the pad thickness as I think it is only a 16.5 or 17mm thick pad like the Brembo but let me double check before you quote me on that. StopTech ST60 calipers take a 20mm thick pad and their ST40 calipers use a 16.5mm thick pad.

Stock of course is 15.5mm.

I have the W6A's on the front of mine (17mm pad when I looked it up online before).

The W6A's fit under the C5 Z06 17" front wheels if you go with the C6 13.4" rotor... barely. I actually took a feeler gauge to make sure I had clearance... It is very tight, but fits and works well. Something along the lines of .040" clearance I think at the tightest spot (don't remember for sure but it was under .1"

With a 14" rotor and my 18" TSW Nurburgring there is plenty of clearance.

I already run 18's up front. So for a c5z that is 50-50 street/track, what do you think ... the SL6's or W6A's and move to the c6 z51 rotor? I get the feeling the SL6's are more track oriented. I am getting fast enough that stock brakes are making me nervous occassionally. Do both kits come with SS lines? I assume I cannot reuse the lines I put on my stock brakes. Do I need a spacer for the SL6's?

The SL6 will use a bit wider of a pad but for now our kit only works with the 12.8" rotor. Stepping up to the Z51 rotor and using the W6A would probably work out a bit better as you will have more material for heat transfer and longer rotor life.

Our G-Stop kit with the SL6 comes with lines, the W6A kits, the lines are sold separate.

That mean W6A would work with base c6 with z51 rotor and spacer or different wheels offset right?

Our GT2 wheels clear with no spacer and that kit, no problem

I would like to know more. I have 18" Forgeline F14's up front and I was looking for a hard stopping front set of calipers that won't break the bank. What are the pad replacement costs looking like for the W6A?

Depends on the pad, and the compound but pads typically range from $94-250 depending on again who's pads and the compound.

Would have to check some clearances on your wheel to see what you have with those. If you want to PM me some of the details of the wheels we can see what fits.
