I also installed these on my 66 nova hood. I made pockets so they sit flush and then screws for mounting. Should be the only one of its kind!

Default Much love to Trackspec! Love the look and function!

Will be posting temps seen after the vent. I was initially seeing 198 highway and 220-230 traffic. I think this will allow heat to escape even at idle.

SUPER interested in doing this as I see some high temps when I drag race.

Headers dump a lot of heat under the hood (should have got them ceramic coated) and when I add a centri-blower I'm really concerned with how much heat is going to be under my hood.

anyone have experience leaving the car outside in the rain with these? Mine is a daily driver and is parked outside right now until I get my beater back on the road.

Mine will be here tomorrow. Are any of you leaving the hood liner in and cutting around it? Or are most of you removing it completely? I am assuming the liner would not be as necessary with the reduced temps.

I'd remove it completely, it makes for a cleaner install and because racecar.

Anyone around today who has done this install? Mine is ready to cut, just never done the rivet thing. I borrowed a rivet gun so I have that, and I think my measurements are right.

How does the washer thing go? Directions say to hold with pliers on bottom of hood? Sounds hard to do and pull trigger. Am I reading that right?

TIA

I'd love to get some of these but am afraid of doing it to the factory carbon hood on my 2004 comemerative edition.

My other option is to find another hood and then purchase hood stripe kit and install there...

Finally got mine in. Not too bad. Just wished I would have worked harder to get washers to stay on some of the rivets. Painted edge and trimmed hood liner and left in also. Thanks to John for some Sunday advice and encouragement. End product:

IN Process:

Can't wait to get a motor and try all this out at the track!

Any more details on how you are cutting the hoods? Jig Saw with a regular metal type blade works or are you using something special?

Also a couple mentioned "painting the edges" after cutting. What paint are you using?

We have used a jigsaw in the past and can tell you that a harbor freight 9.99$ cutoff wheel with a 5$ pack of thin cut metal blades cuts thru like butter! With that set up, the holes can be cut very quickly and straight.

I'm sure others have used a jigsaw or other methods but that's the most effective way we have found after doing tons of installs.

Any standard autozone or Home Depot matte black paint can be used to paint the edges. Not a necessary step, but as Matt and others have shown, it really cleans up the install for a factory finish.

Thank you all for your support!
