I'd be all about making you some sick *** one off aero if we didn't have such a distance between us. I'm hoping to get my M3 to the Peak in the next 2 yrs. It's in the mid build stages now, but I've actually relocated cross country to where I am now. Wish you were closer, I'd love to be in on a build like this.

I'm doing some widebody stuff now...the rears would work perfect for you, but the fronts...I'd need a set of wheels/tires to do mockup here.

This is the foam stages I am at now, then will go clay, then pull molds. Everything will pressure relief the fender wells, front and rear. Front will vent when the wheel is turned to avoid lift, etc.

Looks awesome! I have a shop that will be handling the build. And they have an experienced body guy. Still, there is a vendor on here that sells flared rear fenders that we will probably go with for sake of ease. That being said, the build is only just about to start. And I am hoping to do lots of testing. Including all the aero pieces.

What's a realistic top speed up the hill? Just be mindful that you don't need aero to work at 200mph if you are only running at a max of say 150!

Also dont forget to think about cross finds and how that can impact aero. All very well having loads of downforce and then with one gust of wind in the wrong direction you loose all that downforce or even worse you have lift!

There are some good links in one of the build threads I posted (rwd rally car).

Best case scenario we are looking at 130-140mph.

Oh and good news!

Subscribed, can't wait to see this come together.

With a big 'ol splitter and a wing to match, the aero shouldn't be too picky about speed. Laying the radiator flat and ducting the hood like the C5R will help the splitter work and improve cooling at the same time. You can also vent the front wheelwells through the hood to help vacate some of that positive pressure.

As for setup, it sounds like you need to keep the ride height reasonably high without insane spring rates in order to handle the track conditions. Keep in mind that what sounds pretty stiff to those without aero may be about right with a bunch of downforce on your car.

Any plans to at least visually make the car a hatchback? The notchback adds a decent amount of drag, you could probably use a molded lexan hatch window and fabricate the rest of the part to save weight.

Car will be heading to Houston for cage work in 3 weekends. Apex Auto Works will be doing the work. Trying to decide on fire suppression now.

I was wondering if Richard was going to be doing your cage. Mine was the guinea pig for "a few other c5's" he had coming up. Let me know what you come up with for fire suppression, I want to get mine ordered in the next week or so and am still on the fence.

Get the fire suppression system! Don't even think about not doing it.

So we have been doing a lot to get the car track ready by January. Most of the interior was stripped out early last week. With all but a few small items left. Removed both front and rear glass in one piece!

Roof will be removed later this week.

Car goes in for cage work in two weekends. Hopefully it will be done by late Nov/early dec. Which gives us a month to button everything back up.

While the car is in pieces, the transmission is out for some loving care by Hayes Racing. Rear diff is out too. Still deciding on what to do there.

One of the next big projects we are working on is laying the radiator forward. Which will be tightly ducted through the front bumper and splitter and out through the hood.

Everything removed.

The issue here of course is that the intercooler pipes run right through the area in question.

Part of the equation will be rerouting all the piping. Including the side pod intercoolers. Which we are propsing to be increased about %50 in size.

So the idea is to reroute the pipes from the lower bumper area to either around the radiator, or back through the headlight area. Currently, where the hood hinges reside. The hinges will be removed anyway. So that gives us some options to play with.

The air filters will be relocated to where the current bronze colored metal deflectors are located. Which should allow for good airflow and lower IAT's. I may pull the filters and pipes completely for race day though.

Lots to do and lots more to plan out. But I am excited as this project begins to take shape!

P.S. Forgot to mention that we are going to plan strict ducting for each intercooler too. Which will involved moving them forward about 3-4" from their current location near the front of the wheel well in order to make room for the shroud.

Looks good and like the thinking.

have you though about rerunning the cold side piping? You could run the pipes similar to the UPP kit (over the wheels) and then down into the intercoolers. From there you could run the current outlet behind your rad and into the intake. just an idea and should make way for removing the low slung inlets (sat under the front cradle).

Jeremy, after talking with Neal, and viewing video of your last trip up the peak, I would strongly recommend a parachute!

Hey Jeremy,

PPIHC is a big event for us locally and we sponsor a lot of cars for it. If you need anything when you get to town (shop space, dyno, parts, etc) please hit us up. We really appreciate having you guys come out to these events, and we do our best to accommodate you. We generally shut down to the public for that entire week just for you guys.

CK,

It's people like you who keep me coming back. Love the generosity and support for the event. As you know, the race can be a bit of a bermuda triangle for cars. And while I hope we don't have to use your shop. I appreciate the offer

Feel free to come say hi at Fen Fest or whenever.

No problem, it's what we're here for. Alot of people need last minute tweaks on the dyno to adjust for elevation. I'm sure I'll see you around, I'm generally on the hill all week for practice and for the race. I'll be up there providing support for Johnathan Newcomb and Toshiki Yoshioka. It's always a good time!

What class are you running in?

Sent you a PM to keep the thread clean.

I am highly considering running 16" wheels on the setup. Waiting to hear from a certain tire manufacturer on a sponsorship proposal. If they come through, we will be on 18's. If not, I'm going 16's.

Looks familiar! Cut that halo bar out and replace with the main hoop of the cage. Way more room.

I am proud to announce that LG Motorsports will be partnering with us on Project Phoenix! They are joining what is to be an all-star team for this unique build, to include but not limited to...JB Corvette Specialists, RECARO, APR, Apex Auto Works, Emergency Suppression Systems (E.S.S.), #Aldowelds Fabrication, Hayes Racing Transmission, Fuel Injector Connection.

More are on the way! And we hope to have some updates on the status of the roll cage very soon.

Wow The guy who rolled the Mitsusquishy down the big hill has the stones to go back big time!

Very impressive Jeremy.

I spent the 4th of July on Devils Playground 1990-95 spectating when it was gravel.. Have rolled & crashed enough to know that was special.

Back on topic. Was going to make some suggestions. My car is what everyone is describing above. Then I read LG is onboard. You are in good hands. Very Cool & Best of luck!!
