Palmer Motorsports Park
It looks like Palmer Motorsports Park may actually be coming together. In the works for 7 or 8 years now, Palmer Motorsports Park is now paved, and looks really interesting.
If your not familiar with the planned track, it is located in Massachusetts, off of Rt 90 (the Mass Pike), between Springfield and Sturbridge. The track is 2.3 miles long, and situated on top of a hill (Whiskey Hill).
Below is a link to the track's website, with some somewhat limited info, and a Youtube video of a lap around the freshly paved track.

I am not sure I would want to subject the old Camaro chump car to that; much less a car of real value. Perhaps they are planning on moving a lot of dirt and boulders before grand opening. In any case, I wish them well. The more tracks the better.

That track has some interesting sections and elevation changes. IMHO there is no way I would run it at speed. The slightest mistake and you are either off the side of a mountain or into a stone wall. No run off area at all, SCARY ! I think that thy are going to have trouble booking events there and if it does eventually open, it will not last long.

You realize they're still building this track.. I haven't seen it, but as far as the cliffs and rock faces go, I'm sure when they're done you'll be looking at nice Armco and Tirewalls everywhere instead...
Love the comment on the "giant Auto x called Thompson".. kinda my impression as well.

We occasionally run a 65 Corvette with the SCCA NER in their Regional sub group, the Historic Racing Group. 103 is a stretch for that old Corvette, 100dba ain't gonna happen.
The Historic Racing Group is scheduled to run Palmer in August, along with the SCCA. We were looking forward to checking it out, but if that 100dba limit stands, we won't be able to run there.

Thanks for posting the link. We were curious what the proposed noise limit would be. The article says 100dba at 50 ft for race weekends, which isn't real promising. That's SCCA Solo levels. Generally, SCCA club events are limited to 103dba.

After viewing that video, there's no way I'd drive my car on that track.

I cannot wait to run this track, 170 ft elevation change looks way more fun than Thompson's high speed auto cross, easier on the car than NHMS no transitions...
They just put the pavement down before winter, still a ton of work to do just look at the amount of equipment on site they are still working ..... Much shorter haul for us than Pocono or Watkins...

Looks like some back country road where Armco is the norm and speed limits are posted. I think I'll stick with M-O and VIR.
And if they have DEP problems this is sounding more like the Bluegrass track that got as far as base paving before being virtually abandoned.

They had an open house for the SCCA last month, it was crowded but we got to drive around the track. It is an amazing facility. Of course it is still under construction so you cannot see yet the barriers, runoffs, flag stations, pit area or anything like that but they are working hard to be ready next season.
Of course no one is going to race on it like that, the track will be setup to the safety standards required for racing. Happy to see a great challenging track in our neck of the woods.
Here is a video of the SCCA open house at Palmer:
