Default Difference? - 200 Tread Wear - 285/30R19 versus 305/30R19 Front Tires

Gentlemen.

Would there be a handling-performance improvement by upgrading from my present 285/30R19 - 200 Tread Wear Rating front tires, which are mounted on H.R.E. 19 x 10.0 rims by going to a pair of 305/30R19 - 200 Tread Wear Rating front tires mounted on H.R.E. 19 x 11.0 rims.

My rears are 325/25R20 - 200 Tread Wear Rating tires on H.R.E. 20 x 12.5 rims.

Intended usage would be participation in Ultimate Street Car Association events, which includes Autocross, Road Course, and Speed Stop.

Is the only difference the size of the tire or is the manufacturer changing also. What tire and manufacturer are we talking about here?

This. Tire compound will have a much greater effect on performance than an incremental change in width.

The present and future tires will be Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

Not familiar with Michelin. Are they known for having a stiff sidewall or soft. If its stuff then you could probably take advantage of the extra 20mm of rubber. If soft then your street response will suffer and the initial turn in will become wallowy and vauge vs crisp and responsive.

What makes you think you need more rubber in front? What's the car doing that you don't like? Im never one to turn away more front grip but if it comes at a sacrifice that'll make you slower in the endgame its not worth it. You make the call.

I can't think of a situation where a 285/325 stagger would be better than 305/325 for your intended usage. Usually people running a large stagger like that are doing so due to space limitations. Or they're rockin the big n littles and heading to the Wed night drags... Throw the 305's on there.
