It just looks like it is too wide for bracket. Hammer it in? Grind bushing? Spread bracket? Put OEM back in?

There are flats on the bushing that have to line up with the rack body then it fits perfectly.. The flats allow for the curve of the rack body if they are not aligned than it will not fit at all.

If the bolt got too tight from the factory-reinstall-or other. Then you should spread out the ears (carefully) because they can break off if you spread too far.
The other thing that you can do is grind down the flat part of the bushing until it drops in.
After the install the ears will not move inwards any more, no matter how many times you have the rack out.
Give me a call if you need anything!!!

I had to send mine back to randy for some trimming on the lathe. Wouldn't have needed to send back, except for the fact my lathe wasn't spinning. Might want to measure the distance between the ears, and then the width of the bushing as installed on the rack and compare.

Working on jack stands makes this a little harder. Anyway, the flats were turn correctly, but still wouldn't go in. My old ones were missing 1/2 the rubber so that was not an option. However, I bought a used rack when mine started leaking, and that bushing looks brand new. So I switched them out and it slid right in. Oh well, I tried.
Thanks for the help.
