Holy Cow...we got a 2nd @ Daytona in Trans Am2
The Kennedy Racing Mustang took second place in TA2 at the Trans Am event at Daytona with 20 year old Bobby Kennedy wheeling.
The Kennedy's (Squeak & Bobby) are my partners in the C6 Vette racer.
The Bemco Fab prepared car unloaded fast and stayed that way. Bobby ran in the top 5 all race slowly moving up to third near the end and then made an exciting last lap pass of two time TA champ Wally Dallenbach Jr under braking at the bus stop for second place.
The car features a Howe Racing TA2 chassis and Howe Mustang body with a Byron Koury built 6.2 liter aluminum Ford small block. Jerico tranny and Winters quick change. These cars weigh 2830 with driver and make near 500 HP restricted. The Chevy's use an LS3 and the Dodge a 6.4 liter Hemi . The car was built in Deland Fl by Woody Wood, Steve Branton and Mikey Kopka at Bemco Fab.
For those who know lap times of Daytona, Cameron Lawrence was on the TA2 pole at a crazy fast 1:51.3 and ran 1:53's in the race. Bobby qualified in the 1:53's and ran low 1:54's at the end of the race.
The TA2 race was won by Cameron Lawrence in the Miller Racing Dodge Challenger (a factory backed effort). Congrats to Cameron as he also won the TA2 championship for the second straight year. Cameron is a former champ of our V8 StockCar series and one of the nicest young men you would ever meet.
Also congrats to Amy Ruman for taking the overall and TA class in her Ruman Racing C6 Corvette.

Burning Brakes
Pretty good times, Mike Skeen was shaking down a customers Trans Am Mustang during the NASA event TT sessions earlier this month and he was running a 1:47 flat.

Bobby had a great race, it was a bunch of fun to watch!
I look forward to the series growing next year with some new bodies in TA and TA2 and a TV package to boot!
We were paddocked across from the stock framed Greenwood car which I was impressed to see running as quick as 1:55s. I remember them at Daytona in '76 when a 1:59 was very quick!
Great talking with you Bosoco, now I'm looking for an LS engine to put in my '69.
