Default Trailering a C6 GS..Need advice

Thinking of trailering my GS south this winter. I have the use of an open trailer with an enclosed front. Will be using a Tahoe to tow the vehicle. Need advice on front tie down location on the car. Trailer has 4 shorts straps and four ratcheting tiedowns. Whats the best way to tie the vehicle down. Will it help to remove the front splitter and air dams from the car..

Thanks for any advice.

Get 4 of these and use the tie down holes in the rockers.

Yep, use T-hooks. I actually sell a set of Mac's straps that have them built right on the ends. It's what I use on both ends of my car. Prefer to tie the frame down than tie on the wheels. Hard on bushings and alignments that way.

sounds like you are borrowing a trailer and straps and so don't want to buy straps. you may want to pick up straps that can just go through the wheel or around lower control arm ... ie. http://www.easternwreckerstore.com/A...gs-p/38-50.htm

That's really not a great idea. And he doesn't have to buy straps, he can buy the t-hooks that will clip into the hook on the end of a normal tow-strap.

But I do caution you to be aware that not all straps are good enough. Many use way too light duty tie-downs. They think that if it's rated at 3000 pound, or even 1500 (yes I've seen that) that x4 it's plenty. It's not. Think about the energy involved if you happen to have an accident. I've seen a corvette come off a trailer due to insufficient straps. And remember in an accident if you happen to hit something head on, only the rear straps hold the weight of the car.

I only use 10k rated, 3333 lb working load rated straps for my car. I tow, a lot. If you plan on towing much, get good straps.

I have a set of the hooks (best way to go for sure) and maybe the straps too. I used them on my C6 and towed it a LOT on my 18' open trailer to the track.

I think mine have the swivel link as well ... have to check on that.

Sell very reasonable .... PM if you want them.

I use t-hooks myself and by the way, was not suggesting he use straps that are not rated for the load he is carrying. The link was just an example.

I think your setup is what I'm going to use...is there only one way for the t hook to go in to the frame slot?

yes the t hooks go in and then rotate them 90 degrees. I bought mine and a spare at Northern tool and added small Clevis's to them that I picked up at Home Depot. I think I got the straps at one of those places as well. The straps clear the stock splitter so no need to remove it. I leave the car out of gear and release the e brake while its strapped down.

Where have I seen that carbon flash GS before?

Another vote for the T hooks with nylon straps X pattern

I have hired rollbacks. They back up to my trailer, I drive the Vette on, they pull ahead, tilts the bed, I drive it off.

Here it is new at the dealer, 2 miles on the clock.
