Default 6 lap Nurburgring race C7 Z06 vs Porsche 991S.

There is no questions that C7 Z06 will be much faster then Porsche 991S on a single lap, but what about 6 lap race at the Nurburgring (Nordschleife "North Loop")?

Both cars 100% stock, no modifications, same tires MPSS or MPSC2

This feels vaguely troll-ish.

Truth be told, it depends how bad the heatsoak issue really is. The real question is, would a C6Z be faster over that time than a C7Z with MPSS or MPSC2?

I'm just gonna bite a little on this and say, that I don't think either car is designed, nor was it either engineering teams goal to really do 6 laps at Nurburgring consecutively. If I were tasked to go to the Ring and run continuously, I think addressing cooling issues would be one of the first tasks. That, and the fact I am fairly certain neither car would hold enough fuel to do 6 full fury laps. It seems the Z06 gets about 3mpg, per SBC's Laguna track day. With a 19 gallon tank that isn't even 5 laps at the ring.

I think this question is overall not going to bring anything more than pure speculation. The couple of Z's that have been tracked got some high oil temps, but none are exhibiting issues in mid 50's temps. I think at mid 80's or higher it certainly could be an issue, but I'd bet it'd be an issue for the Porsche potentially as well.

I know that Porsche can do from 6 to 8 laps on single tank of fuel driven and hard as possible and not overheat. Not sure about C7Z06, never driven one. Lets say we run, until Z06 runs out of fuel. I also know from officials GM statements that new C7Z is the "most track capable Corvette ever made". That's why I have a valid question - will C7Z outperform (as the most track capable Corvette ever made) Porsche 991S not on a single lap, but on at least 3-4 laps, until it runs out of fuel?
This question is not that simple. I can not answer it.

I don't know about the C7 Z06, but when I am racing I get far better than 3 MPG. I normally use 5 to 5.5 MPG in my fuel load calculations and I almost always finish with more fuel than I calculated.

Two issues with you poll. First is, it is highly hypothetical as you shared no data on either car. The other issues is that you are asking this on a Corvette forum - not hard to guess who most will vote for... C7Z all the way!

The C7Z doesn't need to try very hard to match the pace of the 991. It can run in higher gears for cooling and not at full tily. You may have had a decent challenge with a 991 GT3. This is not much of a challenge. 6 laps at about 8 minutes per is almost 50 minutes. I see fuel as an issue as well. Doubt the vette will last with all of that HP.

To give you an idea about oil temps. I tested modified C6Z with additional oil coolers at Road Atlanta about a year ago. After 4 laps at RA maximum oil temp that I saw was 240F. Same car at the Nurburgring, same ambient temperature 275F after one lap.

I really want to buy new C7Z06 to use it as Ring Taxi, but I'm concern about overheating problems. I think if you use it all day and drive it in higher gears I don't thing that C7Z will keep
up with Porsche.

ps: BTW What oil temps do you see at RA with your 996T ?
