I saw one and talked to the guy in 2013 at the Concorso Italliano during the Monterey Sportscar Reunion.
Nice car and it will be a decent series (though I'm not into "spec series".
They're gonna have to fit it with some mufflers, it was damn, damn loud.

I like the idea of fast cars with simple brakes, simple motors, and simple transmissions.
In a way these things are closer to street cars than any modern race cars. Ain't no such thing as a dog ring or sequential transmission in a street car.

Without a doubt my favourite race series USRRC & Can Am. A bygone era perhaps but not forgotten by many.
Best of luck to the promoters and participants. Neat stuff, serious stuff.

(Wasn't someone reproducing the Chapparal 2E a few years ago?)
I do like the use of non-paddle shift transmissions in these cars. And, it's nice that there's a place for big blocks to run in again (hopefully additional engine brands will be invited in the future).

Keep the chassis' identical, just bring back a few period correct body types (Lola, Chaparral, etc.) If one turns out to have an aero advantage, add a few pounds.

If you happen to visit Midland, Texas - a must see is the Chaparral/Jim Hall museum: http://www.chaparralcars.com/index.php
Mr. Hall was truly a pioneer in automotive aerodynamics.

I once had a discussion with pro driver Nick Longhi about these cars. His exact words were....." Incredibly fast cars that handled horribly." He said it was almost frightening trying to get them to turn in after a long straight. (I do recalling him using the words "fun" in his description though). Of course it could have been his personal experience with just the one car he drove but is be interested to hear others thoughts.

I watched Barrett Jackson last night and thought there should be some way to get the Ford GT in the mix (the second gen, not the new one).
