2015 SCCA Rule changes
Ok,
What ever happened to the day when the Class rules for autocross were about a half inch thick?
Anyways, I am trying to reason out the rules and not doing a good job. I have the following done to my car and want to know if I will be able to compete in Street.
1. TSW wheels - 18 inch front and rear but different offsets to clear:
2. C6Z06 brakes
3. Toyo R888's - I need new tires anyway and will go with a 200 tread wear - looking at Hankooks, Michelin PSS and or Dunlop Direzza's. Problem is I run 275/35/18's up front and 305/30/18's in the rear - plan on doing a 275/295 setup or I might have to go to a 265/285 one. Hopefully it will give me some more choices
4. Cold air intake
5. Pfadt adjustable front sway bar.
6. Pfadt adjustable shocks - these should be of minimal concern.
So, will the wheels and brakes cause me to run in Street Prepared in an otherwise bone stock 08 Z51 car?

The cold air intake also puts your in SSP. are your shocks just shocks or coilovers? Coilovers will put you into a mod class. Welcome to the wonderfully fkd world of SCCA...

The brakes are a problem too. You might be able to correct the wheel offset with spacers. Let's say you get everything legal, but as of right now there's really no tires available. Hankooks RS3's and BFG Rivals are all out of stock for quite awhile. What a joke. SSP with Hoosiers has always been my favorite class.

I wonder though. With like a widebody conversion with Grand Sport fenders. Grand Sports had Z06 brakes, and if I went to that, I could use STOCK sized Z06 wheels. Seems stupid, I can update the body work and brakes to a Grand Sport but have to run SSP because of it.
I might just say screw it and autocross my daily driver. Keep the Corvette for HPDE or when the Autosports Northwest runs at Spokane County Raceway.
Just looked up my daily driver - FStreet? Seriously? A 4 banger Turbo versus V8 Camaros and Trans Ams, Cadillac CTS-V's? I could see GStreet. Damn.

The broken back I suffered last year, along with the torn meniscus in my right knee didn't help. Nor did the two shoulder surgeries my wife went through. No autocrossing all of last year. If it weren't for GT5 and GT6 I would have gone nucking futs.

This is not an SCCA site but can help.
http://www.sccaforums.com/
Then of course contact the SCCA.com
Once you zero in on a class the SCCA has a class rep and that person can tell you more or help with questionable details.
Finally you can ask a direct question to the top of the SCCA club racing board for final official position

Wheels stock width? 8.5" front 10" rear? The diameters are OK for Street but if not stock widths then you're out. Brakes and CAI are easy enough to change back to stock to get into Street, if that's where you want to be.

this is the boat im in! my c7 z51 is bone stock except for 10'' rims up front, 11 inch in rear===SSP!!!!, it looks like im running away from the guys in SSR, the truth is in SSR the c6 GS and z06 came with 9.5/12 wide wheels and im not going to waste my time running a 265, 275? up front on the 8.5's when they have 295/315's up front( lets not even talk about the rears) at the end of the day, i look at the SSR times like that is the class im in. and so does the SSR drivers. most of them tell me their not going with a c7 untill the widebody GRAND SPORT shows up with 10'' fronts and 12'' in the rear. some just dont want the supercharger or the MAG-RIDE on the c7 zo6. i ordered my car (z51) and did not get/want the mag-ride, zo6 only comes that way.

That can be done by entering any class where your car will be at a disadvantage and getting your runs in. You won't screw up the competition in that class and you will have your times.
It is the same in any group formulating rules. NCCC autocrosses are basically about everybody running for FTD. The class structure is so broken up that there are lots of 1 car classes. So what if you are first in your class all you had to do was successfully idle around the course once and you won your class?

Bill,
That wouldn't be much different than some of the Show and Shines I have seen where they seem to create a myriad of classes so everyone is happy. Everyone gets a trophy? Sorry, but in life, there are winners and losers. Competition is supposed to bring out the best in motorsports, but sometimes logic doesn't seem to become involved.
The local club has me in a class called NS - or Non Stock. I can run whatever tire I want, on whatever wheels I want, but you compete against some seriously modded cars. Hell, if I even went so far as to change out all the bodywork to make it into a C6 Grandsport, which races in A Street (with the 200 tires), I would still be considered Non-Stock.
I guess it is time to sit down with SWMBO and decide, keep it a dual use car, or make it a full out track car with plates.
