Default 315 tires on 18x10 inch rims

I have been running 315's square on C5z rear wheels (18x10.5) in both hoosiers and BFG Rivals. I just picked up a nice set of Fiske FM2 wheels. the rears are 18x11 so that is fine but the fronts are 18x10. will dropping the 0.5 inch really prevent me from running the 315 tire?

Referencing C5 Z06 and C6 Z06, I've run 315 Hoosier A6s on the front rims in Stock category (SS, now SSR) autocross applications. Thus, 9.5" wide rims. Both cars did well enough to scrape into the trophies at the SCCA Solo Nationals. The 315 width is relatively common on C6 GS/Z06s in SSR, whereas only a few people put that big a tire on the 17x9.5s on C5 Z06 fronts in SSR trim.

You'll be fine, but for road racing... 18x12's would be the preferred size for the 315 tire.

Best,

315 will fit on 10" rim but not ideal. We ran that just fine in SCCA T1 and was the most used combination. Some ran 315/295 a better fit but with no more speed. The reason to run 315 square is to only stock 1 tire and to be able to in a pinch swap a tire on rim due to damage, wear, blow outs etc. It really keeps your life simple. If a tire is not supported fully on the rim you get different wear. I think that maybe the reason the 315 is no better speedwise than 295 is that the wheel can only put so much tire on the road.

LAST season someone on this forum(i forget) told me it was ok to run a 335/30/18 hoosier on a 18x10. 5 wheel! he was right, it worked,(fit),pinched, im sure a 315 on a 10'' will be ok. if i was going to stay in ssr with my c7 z51, i would have got a base 19x10 offset 78mm rear wheel and put a 315/? /19 on it.

Would the shoulder for a 315 on an 18x10.5 be stiff enough for a rear setup?
