Default How often do you guys change your trans and diff fluid for track use?

I have a 2006 Z06 with about 12 track days so far. Just wondering if I should change/flush these pre season. I usually do engine oil after each event. Thanks

I changed the transmission and differential oil yearly at the end of the season. I typically ran 12-14 (2) day events a year and had no problems in the ten years I tracked the car. I used Redline full synthetic fluids. If you are changing the engine oil every event you are wasting A LOT of money. I started out changing it every other event and then ran several Blackstone oil analysis tests. The tests showed that I still had over 60% life in the oil addatives and very low particulate levels. Started to change it every third event and still had over 40% life in the addatives. Every 3rd event worked fine for over 6 years without engine problems.

I change the oil after after about 10 days, and diff and tranny once a year. However I'll be racing this year and will probably switch to much shorter intervals. Need to do some research on what exactly

I went a little nuts the last several years and changed my tranny/diff fluid every 4-6 events.

Going forward I would probably do 8-10.

Nope the heads were totally stock. In fact they had never been off the block when I sold the car. I did change the valve springs every other year which is a key to longevity in the LS6. I had the Wilwood 6 piston calipers on front and used the Wilwood H compound pads front and rear. I used stock sized DBA 5000 2 piece rotors on front and the DBA 4000 on the rear. They lasted longer than anything I used, and I tried a lot of different ones.

In 2009 GM changed the recommended maintenance for tracking the car. They recommend changing the diff fluid after 24 hours of track usage. I started doing that with my 08 since I don't know of any changes in the Diffs that would have driven that change in the manual.

I haven't changed the trans fluid so it is the original fluid installed at the factory.

Before Gene Culley changed from GM Parts House to Cultrag Performance his home page had a download location where you could download all of the Corvette Owner's manuals.

This is the wording in the Racing or other Competitive Driving portion of the 2010 Owner's Manual:

If the vehicle is used for racing or other competitive driving, the rear axle fluid temperatures may be higher than would occur in normal driving. We recommend that the rear axle fluid be drained and refilled with new fluid after every 24 hours of racing or competitive driving. See Recommended Fluids and Lubricants on page 7-9 for what fluid to use.

I don't run as many days as I'd like, probably 6-8 total. I change mine over the winter.

If your changing these for the first time, know that some of our transmissions can be finicky with new fluids. My C5Z did not like Amsoil. I then had to change it again and Royal Purple did the trick. I'm trying Redline DL4 this spring. I can only speak for the C5Z, not sure what you have or if the same thing exists for it.

Trans once a season, diff 2x a season. Diff gets quite hot w/o a cooler. Run cheapo ATF in the trans to help out a worn synchro and Amsoil severe gear 75w110 out back.
