What to do with old (expired) Helmets ?
My wife and I have been Autocrossing since 1980.
Over the years, we have acquired quite a few helmets.
The last 20 years or so have seen much more rigidity in the Snell
rating, and SCCA rules say helmets must be the current or previous
Snell rating.
Snell rating years are every 5 years. So today your helmet must be
Snell 2005 or 2010 (the Snell 2015 rating has not been released).
In the past we have merely left them sitting on our garage shelf.
But now we have 6 helmets that are no longer "valid".
So what do all you people do with your old expired helmets.

IIRC, the Solo Rules allow for most recent and prior 2 Snell ratings (at least for SCCA). This differs from their club racing policy which is "most recent 2". The upshot is that the 2000, 2005, and 2010 Snell should be good for autocrossing until the 2015's are released.
As to what to do with them... dunno. I've got a couple expired helmets sitting in the garage and another one that ages out (for club racing use) this year.

Drifting
Maybe there's an organization that can distribute them to people in 3rd world countries. Most of them use motorcycles as their only transportation. Otherwise, just toss them.

Or you can use them to practice painting your next helmet
If they look good display them

I don't have the current SCCA autocross rules since I only tech Time Trials and PDX (HPDE) for SCCA but the 2015 rules allow helmets older than 2005.
Helmet and Equipment: A Helmet certified as meeting the most current or the two most recent applicable Snell, FIA, or SFI standards are acceptable. Acceptable standards include: Snell ratings SA2010, SAH2010, SA2005, SA2000, M2010, M2005, M2000, K2010, K2005, and K98, SFI ratings 31.1, 31.1A, 31.2, 31.2A, 31.1 2005, 41.1, 41.1A, 41.2, 41.2A, 41.2 2005 and 24.1, FIA 8860‐2004, 8860‐2010.

I like the idea of displaying them. Kinda cool to see the evolution of helmets over time.

All the Autocross clubs here use SCCA rules, which makes these helmets un-usable.
We just left them on the curb outside our house with a "Free" sign.
They were gone in 2 hours.

But helmet rules for track days (HPDE) are different than the rules for racing. They are very close to the rules for autocross.
The rules state that they can be as old as a K98.
To clarify, here are the 2015 SCCA Autocross requirements:
EQUIPMENT4.3.1 Helmets
Helmets meeting the following standards must be worn while on course:
All helmets meeting the latest or two immediately preceding Snell Foundation standards (SA2015, SA2010, SAH2010, SA2005, SA2000, M2015, M2010, M2005, M2000, K2010, K2005, K98), SFI standards 31.1, 41.1, 31.1A, 31.2A, 41.1A, 41.2A or British spec BS6658-85 type A/FR are acceptable.
