PAC-1236X too much for ASA cam?
I have a set of built w/ titanium retainers and PAC-1236x springs. I was going use the heads w/ a LG GX5 camshaft, however, plans changed and now I'm going to use the ASA cam. Obviously the springs are overkill but does it cause any negative effects to use these dual springs rated for over .600 on a .525 cam?
Thanks in advance

It's way overkill, but there won't be ill effects from them I don't believe. I run PAC 1207X springs which are 2 steps down from the 1236X's and my cam lifts to .660. Good news is you'll have plenty of valve train stability.

I replied before I watched the video. Sorry! I didn't realize conical was different from beehive. Thanks!

I went through this same decision process, as I have an ASA cam and some dual springs laying around for an LS6 build I'm doing. After a little research on LS1Tech I decided to go with the proper Comp Cams 26918 springs. The heavier springs will cause drag and more valvetrain wear. Check the spring pressures, if they aren't much different, I wouldn't sweat it, but for the ASA cam you don't need much and you should always build the engine for longevity wherever possible. Just my .02

Oh, one more note, they use some amount of coil bind to reduce surging in the spring, maybe having springs that can tolerate a lot more lift would increase this surging, to various bad outcomes.
