I'm skipping practice and just showing up to qualify. I will be there on 9/20
Glad you got it taken care of! The heat is not that bad now but it's really humid!!

Pulled in to our spot last night and it was POURING down! All set now though.

I'm on Twitter. Well, at least @MfgNewsRacing13 is...follow along.

The Captain cut a fine 1:59.739 in Thursday Morning's SCCA Runoffs round 4 of qualifying. While that won't threaten the front runners, it is one of the quickest laps that I have seen by a GTA type ASA stock car with the ASA type LS1. With somewhere around 410 HP to the wheels he is probably something like 50 HP down to the pole winning GT2 Trans Am 2 Mustang of Jordan Bupp.

The fastest lap by an ASA GTA type stockcar that I am aware of is a 1:58.5 by Scott Lagasse Jr (V8 StockCar record), who also happens to be a race winning professional stock car racer in ARCA and who also competed strongly in Nascar Nationwide.

The green flag drops on the GT2 Championship about 9:30 am tomorrow morning.

Our own Bobby Kennedy qualified 4th overall in the Bemco Fab prepared TA2 Mustang at 1:54.7

Default Runoffs

Sorry I've missed you guys this week. The Celicas have needed alot of fixin and I had to get back to the office today thru Saturday for yearly inventory.
Good luck to all the Vettes and to the Kennedy clan. We don't race till Sunday so I'll miss most of the 'good cars'. Of course, that's from a 40 year NCCC member's perspective.

Video of my 3rd practice, also my 3rd time on track...things get interesting at 18:30 coming out of the bus stop, felt a little bobble, unbeknownst to me, I had a rapidly deflating right rear tire, measured 5-6 psi back in the paddock, should've been 32 hot!! So, the undeterred idiot that I am, after the spin I go for another lap to self-diagnose...feel even more bobble, decide that it will not "self heal" so I call it a session and retire...smart move, albeit a little late!

Qualifying session 4, ran my best lap of 1:59.739, not bad for this rookie in a GTA car LOL!

I don't dilly dally around waiting for the tires to heat up, was taught by a pro to heat the tires up (ie - get used to sliding around), it surprised a few folks out there...in other words, the out lap is fast then a hot lap backed up by another hot lap then a cool down lap and pit to check tire pressure then park it.

Cool videos! 100 ish mph into the bus stop, *****! The BS is the trickiest part of the track for me, even the with the 3 2 1 signs on the fence. It's hard to practice a 160-75 anywhere BUT that track.

From the looks of the grass/DIRT between the bus stop and the track, maybe they should pave that little piece.

Thank you! Daytona was DEFINITELY a learning experience!! I hope to be able to transfer some of the lessons learned there to other tracks (i.e. - Texas World Speedway).

Part 1 (of 2) of the SCCA National Championship Runoffs GT-2 race, starting with 2 pace laps - the powers that be (Chief Steward and the tire folks, i.e. - Hoosier, Goodyear, etc.) decided that we needed to warm up the tires for safety reasons, I felt A-OK without it (based on previous runs this week and planning my pressures based around it) but so it goes....without further adieu I give you the first video (out of 27 cars qualified, 2 did not make it to grid, so 25 started, 7 had mechanical and/or impact issues during the race and did not finish) - oh, note the debris field across Start/Finish towards the later laps - fun to dodge at 170! I was worried about getting a flat tire/blowout from it!:

Part 2 (of 2) - to checkered flag, my brakes started going coming into Turn 6 (with a few laps to go) - thought I was going to hit the tire wall before turning up towards the banking, scary stuff to have in the back of your mind when blasting at 170+ down the front tri-oval and you have to make the T1 fishhook turn - I just kept on double-pumping and made it, same with the bus stop, not as big of an issue for the infield, just kept on double-pumping the brakes - made it!!:
