Default Petition: Stop unfair IMSA BOP/AOP

A petition is going around asking IMSA to redress the AoP issue in the GTLM class. You can sign here:

Race fans spend plenty of money going to the Tudor Races all season. Tickets hotels food etc. Thousands of dollars. We expect to see racing! We do not approve and will no longer support a race series where the outcome is fixed. On a regular basis a team that is doing well is punished for no reason other than they are doing well. Over the last two seasons one team has been consistently punished with Balance of Power adjustments, at the same time teams that are all ready faster are given further assistance. This gentlemen is not racing. We the fans respectfully request that this biased processes is stopped. Yes the cars need to be competitive however you do not penalize the better teams. There are many ways to ensure that the cars are equal. What is currently being done is not the way for the series to continue.

Done.

While I support the objective of this letter, I do so with slightly reasoning. As a 'Vette (and Bimmer) owner, I care a little who wins the Tudor races. I care more however about fairness and the entertainment value of a fair race. To me, the USCC has already developed the reputation of being less than fair. AoPing Viper to a championship last year was obvious, insulting and an embarrassment whether Dodge stayed in it or not. The NBA is constantly challenged in attracting the non-basketball fan base in part due to their, deserved or not, reputation for the preferential treatment afforded their star players. Avid hoop fans have little alternatives but avid race fans do. Two different races in the same class again is not what fans want. Moreover, isn't it a pyrrhic victory for any marquee to win when they only need to beat 1 or 2 other cars? Different track can favor 1 marquee over another, fans know this. What has gone on the last year or so is obviously something different. The USCC will either fix the AoP or the marketplace will fix it for them.

The whole operation smells... and welcome to NASCAR.
Once upon a time, manufacturers were trying to prove something, and racing was more relevant. Now? mere entertainment for TV ad dollars.
When different cars have different rules... makes Wrestlemania events seem legit.

Won't be long before a new series pops up and we have another split. Not good for roadracing but not surprising when you consider who's running the USC series. Didn't waste any time screwing it up.
